**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

I think this is truly the first phone (regular S7) that I have sod all to really complain about.

Size is perfect, build quality is great, performance is snappy, camera is decent (although I would like a few more MP while retaining same low light performance). Battery life is decent, gets me through a full day but I always want more I guess. Wireless charging for the win. I also love the improved weather sealing, should be standard on all phones.

Even my dad bought one so can no longer moan about anything phone-related. :)

I always have flashed my own ROMs with Samsung phones. I was a little bit more nervous this time, as not having owned one since the S3 but it went very smoothly. Device still shows as a genuine build.

so I'm assuming I can flash any other version, say I'm on EE now if I was to flash stock firmware with odin that would not break anything?

I'm not 100% sure, but don't you need to also change your HOME_CSC to BTU from EVR if you want OTA updates?

Build number or baseband version?

Build number - the MMB29K bit as everyone is on Marshmallow.

Will have been asked before - but what's a good case for the S7 Edge?
I just want something that's not too bulky but will provide protection, including to the screen if it's dropped.

Or a screen protector/case combo

FFS, I cannot find any way to get WhatsApp notifications to work the same way they did on the iPhone. I either don't get any, or the content of the messages is displayed on the screen for all to see.

I want it to:

1) Flash the notification light if the screen is off, vibrate, and show a notification with the sender's name if the screen is switched on.

2) Show the pop-up if the screen is on and phone is unlocked.

This shouldn't be so difficult :(

Hi all, am after a bit of advice regarding my brand new S7. Straight out of the box it has white marks near the top of the screen which are very visible on a white background.

The below image has the marks highlighted, the image does not full capture how bright these marks are, they are very distracting.

My question is, would this be grounds to get the phone replaced? If so, would it be through Samsung directly or through the company I bought it from, Very?

Thanks for any comments!

Have you been through the advanced settings for whatsapp?

Samsung has now officially announced Good Lock. Major credit to Samsung here as they've done something no other maker has and now this will lead to turning a Samsung into looking and feeling like a Nexus throughout the core OS without losing oem tweaks.

This, along with the scam blocker built into the phone has put Samsung way up into the handset maker ranks for me.

Has anyone seen any prices for repairs for the stuff in the list below for the S7 edge yet ?

Front Glass
Complete LCD screen
Rear Glass /Rear cover

As am just wondering what kind price it going cost if I did drop my phone and break the front glass or rear glass or LCD screen

I tried it, prefer using themes and Samsung's own notification bar look. All power to them though for giving users options with customization.

Only knock people have against them is their software, much better than how I remember it when I last used a Samsung with the S2.

Everything is just perfect about my S7edge.

That's it! The options are now here without needing to root and each update appears to add new options and add things people have wanted. This is how Android from an oem device should have been from day 1. At least we have it now on a select handful of devices.

Here's to hoping the other makers follow suit.

Yup they have come along way with touchwiz and the customisation is great, no longer is that a worry/disadvantage when looking at galaxy devices.

Now they just need to sort out the slow updates and I'll be all set :p
