**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

Taken the plunge and ordered a S7 edge, loved my s6 edge 128gb but the battery life simply wasn't good enough so am returning that and hopefully get the s7 on Friday :)

Hi all, am after a bit of advice regarding my brand new S7. Straight out of the box it has white marks near the top of the screen which are very visible on a white background.

The below image has the marks highlighted, the image does not full capture how bright these marks are, they are very distracting.

My question is, would this be grounds to get the phone replaced? If so, would it be through Samsung directly or through the company I bought it from, Very?

Thanks for any comments!

I would try Very first to see if they'll do a swap for a new handset, otherwise contact Samsung.

Eugh my weather app crashes constantly. Tried force stop and clearing cache and data. It seems to then get the current weather but crash straight after. Restarting doesn't help either. Any thoughts aside from a factory reset?

Definitely grounds for replacement, you've been supplied with a faulty product and it should be replaced by the retailer, and definitely with a new one.

I used 3.10, I had seperate files I put them all in the right section of ODIN, I didn't use the CSC marked HOME, I used the other one. That will wipe the phone but doesn't cause the hang you had.

Backup with smart switch to your pc and restore after, the phone is pretty much as you started barring a few settings I had to adjust.

Cheers, downloaded another version of Odin (3.10.6) and it seems to work, flashing latest UK stock unbranded now :)

I had a weird issue, if I listened to Spotify and then closed to listen to PowerAmp the music became distorted and muffled, only a reboot of the device would fix it, weird one but I'm hoping this works.

Will be wiping the device completely and recovering via Smartswitch too.

Any of you chaps use the Package Disabler apps in the play store, how much difference are we talking about when a bunch of apps are disabled? Battery and speed wise that is.

No difference at all. Disabling packages on the S7 is mostly for peace of mind and preference of taking away duplicate apps where a Google version already exists etc.

I noticed a slight improvement, what's the harm in doing so. More RAM available etc is fine with me. Good app especially if not rooted.

Most (if not all) of the usual disabled apps don't consume ram in the background anyway so that's a non issue.

Something is still wrong with my phone, I've reset network settings, disabled data and re-enabled it, and turned off WiFi.

I'm not even at home either.

I've pretty much made up my mind, Im getting a S7 Edge, however there hasnt been ANY decent offers the last 2 weeks, Handset or contract. I know the Very deal is still around, but dont fancy opening a credit account (and credit search made against my name) just for the sake of getting a slight discount on a phone. :)
