**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

No problem!

Worth noting that Beta 5 also brings back theme support, so Material Dark is a go, and all the UI quirks by forcing Material Dark before have been fixed, no more dark text on dark backgrounds etc.

I'm also finding battery life much better, and general performance is even smoother now. I'd hazard to say it's on par with my colleague's Pixel XL. It does not look or feel like TouchWiz at all.

I believe this all points to the official release (which is gonna be 7.1.1) being very very close. Someone in the beta channel group asked about it and Samsung said beta 5 is the last release before the official is out. So by January's end I'd expect.

This is certainly the best implementation of Nougat's feel and features burned into an OEM skin that is more of a fork of stock that I have experienced.

Do you know if beta 5 has brought back volte on EE? Beta 2 had it and Samsung removed it on beta 3.

I'm not on EE, so can't say. I used to have it but Three stopped it in this area at some point before the beta.

Nougat is looking good from Samsung. Bodes well as the S8 rumours are shaping up to be a stunner. I wish they'd move to the AOSP wifi icon though in the status bar.

So is everyone who is on the beta going to be able to go onto the official nougat release without having to factory wipe? Contemplating just installing the beta again but if it means having to wipe the phone again then no point as it's just around the corner.

If you installed the beta via OTA as part of being a beta channel member, then it's an upgrade and no wipe is needed (is is usually the case for all OTAs).

If you installed via a downloaded package for flashing via Odin, then yes you'll probably have to wipe data, as you're not on the beta channel to receive the OTA.

I can't find where I read it but it said that EE forced Samsung to remove the ability to use VoLTE. This was to restrict it to their official firmware. Right or wrong I dunno as not everything you read on the internet turns out to be correct.

I've fairly recently bought an unlocked Galaxy S7. Couldn't make my mind up between it or the S7 Edge. In the end I've gone for the none edge version as I prefered the size. I've had a moto x style for a year and gone off the size. Big screen is nice but clumsy to use day in day out. Really liking the Samsung now though without a case found it very slick and a drop waiting to happen. A VRS case arrived today along with charge pad.

As to the VoLTE thing then I watch with interest as my sim only contract with vodafone is about done and considering a move to EE sim only. Be nice if you could use wifi calling and VoLTE without switching to an EE firmware otherwise it could be a wait for an EE Nougat firmware?

I wonder if anyone else is having the same issue as me, I got the marshmallow update last week and the phone was working just fine. Yesterday I got another android update and now my touchscreen barely works without really jabbing at the screen, Typing on the keyboard is virtually impossible.

Any fixes before I send it back?
