**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

Didn't they only just add Notes in beta 3?

EDIT:

Yes they did. Wonder why it was removed again so quickly?

New BETA update is out, 523MB, so not a small update.

Right, I've battled it out with multiple O2 agents and the best deals offered were:

S7 Edge - unlimited minutes/texts - 20GB data - £0 upfront cost - £40/m: £960 in total

S7 Edge - unlimited minutes/texts - 5GB data - £0 upfront cost - £40/m: £960 in total

Yes, I know they don't make any sense whatsoever. This leaves me in a bit of a predicament because 5GB is too little and 20GB is far too much. O2 don't offer a 10GB plan.

For 20GB/m I can't seem to find any other deals (SIM or contract) cheaper than what O2 offered. Please tell me I'm missing something obvious?

I know you're in need of a phone sooner than later but you've got this far so maybe worth waiting and see if any boxing day/January deals pop up?

Looks like Samsung just fixed the issue I was talking about few days ago with cloud backups of the phone. Got a notification there was an urgent cloud update. Installed it and can now do full backups. Impressed by Samsung's turnaround. I reported it a week ago and got confirmation it was a bug and would be fixed... nice.

Just like knowing all my data/settings are backed up :)

How did you manage to get it that cheap?

The phone is £639 and the cheapest sim only deal that matches what O2 offered me is £20/m, which works out at £1079. What O2 offered me is cheaper!

Non edge, 15% discount with Vodafone and they done a deal over black friday.

I've been toying with the idea for days now and I think I'm going to make the change; iOS to Android (6 to S7 Edge).

I know the build/camera/sound quality is excellent, if not better than the iPhone 7, but I'm worried about the overall quality of Android counterpart applications.

Regardless, I'm going to give it a shot and if worst comes to worst, I can always return it within 14 days and probably switch to an iPhone 7.

Wish me luck :)

I wouldn't worry too much about the move to Android (and particularly an S7 Edge) from iOS. I recently did the same thing. I was a very happy iPhone owner since the 4 in 2010. But I kept getting a craving to try the S7. Decided to go for it back in October and have not regretted it one bit.

There is simply nothing I miss about iOS really. I've found app quality to be about as good too, which surprised me. Also, iPhones just seem so basic to me now. The home button and lack of back button is just weird. Also lack of vibrate feedback when you type is horrible to me now on iOS.

About the only thing I miss is the Google public transport iOS widget. It just combines bus and train data and your location in one easy place. Oddly, no Google equivalent Android widget. Although taping "Go Home" does pretty much the same thing.

P.S. Check out "AirDroid" when you get your S7. A lovely app for transferring files from phone to PC and even other way round (wirelessly). It also syncs notifications from your phone to your PC and you can even interact with those notifications (reply to text etc).

Right, the saga finally comes to an end; O2 are a bunch of utter retards.

The deal that was agreed with multiple advisors on the phone and via chat is apparently invalid, and no where near what they can actually offer me. I agreed £0 upfront cost, unlimited mins/texts and 20GB data for £40/m. What they can offer is £47/m.

Due to O2's absolute inability to A. communicate and B. offer anything near to what I want, I'm going to move.

I had a quick look on uswitch and found the following:

EE via AffordableMobiles
10GB data
Unlimited minutes
Unlimited texts
£0 upfront
£40.99

I'm still a bit concerned about returning the phone within the grace period if I don't like it. I had a quick look on the 3rd party website and it states the following:

Under the “Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013”, you have the right to cancel your mobile phone contract within 14 days after getting your phone without incurring any costs, so long as you haven’t used it, and you return it to us in pristine condition.

That doesn't sound promising? If I purchase it, don't like it, I can't return it basically?

Bought my phone outright for off MM and pay 10 a month.
Gone are the days of pay closer to 1k than 500 for a phone for 2 years

+1. It's the only way to go. I always get myself a nice little SIM only deal (currently on Vodafone for £14/m with 20gb and unlimited calls/texts) and then buy and sell my phones as I please -i generally get a good year per device
I appreciate not everyone has the money to buy a handset up front but if you save a little here and there and buy down the line it's better in the long run.

Just think. You can put that 20-30 you save every month to a new handset.
As i keep phones at least 2 years for me that can save me the cost of a new handset and tariff for the next 2-3 years vs contract

I did the same, though I'm paying EE £20 for 20GB Sim only.

Someone I know recently got an S7E from O2 and are paying something like £50 a month for 20GB - Mental.

Yeah I do the same now. Bought the S7 Edge outright and sticking to a sim only deal with EE. Would never get tied to contract again. My only slight annoyance is I only get 8gb of data (with unlimited calls and texts) for £19 a month. Some get 16gb (just depends whether the offer exists at the time or not). But 8gb is fine for me so minor.

To be honest I have never even considered buying a phone outright + SIM only deal. I can afford the handset and since the advantages are rife, it makes sense to do just that.

What is the likelihood that the S7E handset will be reduced in the boxing day sales? It's currently £507 on Amazon, so it might be worth waiting to see if any shops shave some more cash off the top.

Do people leave the standby clock on, or does it destroy battery?

Think I read somewhere it's a 0.8% drain and as the screen is AMOLED it only turns on the pixels needed and the rest of the screen is off, very possible I'm wrong though on the drain though.
