**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S7/Edge Thread ****

Not sure if this has been asked. But I wanted to know if anyone has done the Samsung Upgrade thingy. Can it be any handset you can hand in or does it have to be a Samsung handset? The T&C's don't make this clear. And by them saying they will pay the remaining balance on your current plan, does this mean they pay off the rest of the tariff or just the phone? I'd be very interested in this. Since my LG G4 is not back from repair.

Damn, you're all making me rethink the edge then! I just wanted it for the bigger battery and didn't really think about the edge part as I was just going to turn that feature off.

If it helps I'm extremely picky and moan about the most minute issues, it might not even matter too most.

I don't understand why people are worrying about the battery. The S6 edge + has a 3000mah with a 5.7" screen and that has decent reviews on battery.

This phone has a more efficient cpu 5.5" screen and a 3600mah battery.

The edge is a thing of beauty, makes all your wallpapers stand out as they bend round the screen. Silly things like web browsing do the same, as you move the browser around the screen it bends round the edge really looks good.

When I went to look at the S6/Edge I instantly wanted the edge, the standard S6 in a case you can easily mistake it for a S5 just has no wow factor.

I reckon once people are using their S7 there will still be battery complaints like every other phone. Almost guaranteed .:p

IIRC, there were quite a few who got the s6 edge and returned it for the normal s6 due to not liking how content wrapped around the sides + the way the light bounced/reflected and some issue with text, some guy posted photos showing the issue but I cba searching through the thread :p

Another issue is screen protectors, I always get glass tempered ones now and with the edge, those ones wouldn't work well I imagine...

Why's it matter if people mistake it for a S5? Do you really care about people knowing you have the latest phone?

Are there cases designed specifically for the edge i.e. to not hide/cover the curved screen?

Samsung have always had terrible signal (radio) compared to most other manufacturers - will indeed be interesting to see if that changes with the S7.
This is the first time I've heard this and I completely agree. My Note 3 has had the worst signal of any phone I've ever had and I was blaming it on Vodafone the whole time. Now I'm with a temporary 640, the reception is fine.

Complete dealbreaker for me with Samsung until I read guarantees that the signal is improved.

haha yeah I thought there would be otherwise it would make the "edge" rather pointless if people just stick it in a case :p

Ther are tempered glass protectors for the edge - only issue is that they seem to be coming 2-3 weeks after the phone release (or even as late as the summer)

no. it as to be the s7 handset that you got.

tbh the upgrade program is a good idea in one sense but theres one problem if damage the phone or it gets scratches, scuffs, marks, they won't accept it back. from now till next year you have no idea what will happen to the phone.

also it says you have to send the same phone back, not a different one. so i guess they take the serial number of the phone. so getting Insurance on it is no point.

Ah right. Oh well. But how can it be an upgrade if you already have the S7? Are you sure it's not a case of upgrading from say an S5 or S6?

after one year you send your s7 back to Samsung they pay off the other year for u and they send u a s8 then your on a new 24 month contract. that happens each year. up until u want to keep the phone and don't want to send it back then you'll just keep paying month for 24 month
