**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Thread ****

Have a s8 arriving tomorrow from amazon, £640, to replace my z2. I hope samsung support this phone with android updates for as long as sony have with the z2. As this is my first new phone for about three year I am quite looking forward to having a play. Also, as it supports wireless charging, and I have the phone box option in my audi, I'm interested in how it interacts with the a4 mmi system. I can't find out much from audi because they don't list the phone on their phone compatibilty site. The only phone with android 7 is the pixel...

The S8 is a great phone and a big upgrade. So far there's been a few updates.

Thanks, my choice was between the s8 and the sony xz premium but once the price of the s8 came down it was a no brainer. I don't need a camera that has the slo-mo feature....
 
Well it arrived at lunchtime and I have got it all setup but it seems I cannot change the lockscreen clock, unlike the sony. Otherwise, well its a phone but the performance seems to be much better with all the volumes, such as notifications, far louder than the sony, but that was its weak point. I have also a samsung flip case which I may have made a mistake in by selecting one in silver, I thought it would match the orchid grey, however I think it might show grubby fingerprints up...

You can change the lock screen clock. Go to AOD and select clock.
 
Anyone here actually download apps from the Galaxy App store? I see they are mostly just duplicates of what is already available in the Play Store apart from device specific apps. Was wondering if there are any advantages if I download an app from the Galaxy App store that is also available on the Play Store. I also notice there is a section called "Made for Samsung" like CNN for Samsung and Shazam for Samsung, but these apps are all available at the Play Store as well.
 
So I've bought an S8+ to use for work.

It's a very nice phone, but it's not worth the cost, by a long way. Ultimately I'm not paying for it my phone allowance is so it's not an issue. I just wouldn't pay for one with my own money.

Excuse me for being thick but what is aod? Never mind found it, I already have the digital clock selected howver I wish to have it displayed horizontally not with the minutes below the hour..

Yeah it's a tight fitting around the galaxy, I think after a while it may become more flexible to remove though.

It's custom made cases from noreve, you get to specify the colour of the case, the type of leather, the colour, the interior lining colour.

My case is great quality but they take week's to make, mine took nearly a month.

You can also do that.

Go into AOD, select your display and it'll give you more options and allow you to change out the time is displayed.

You can also go to the Samsung theme store and see different types of the always on display.
 
So someone I know bought an S8 from eBay buy looks like the previous owner didn't factory reset the phone before sending it. When he reset it, the phone then started asked for old account and obviously can't do much with the phone since don't have the previous owner's Gmail details.

Tried to hard reset it but still have the same issue, is there a way to completely wipe the phone? Person is a little "slow" responding on ebay.

Their service is extremely poor. So here I am waiting for my case to dispatch and I get an email... Great (or so I thought!...)

I would like to inform you that your order is ready to be dispatched. Unfortunately there is an error occurred and your modification request could not be taken in account by our production. Then a case in Ambition - Couture finish has been made instead of Ambition as requested.

That was over ONE MONTH after they confirmed they had changed it to Ambition finish, and it was just 11 days ago they told me the below... that the delay was due to the modification request...

As 24th of April you have requested a finish modification into Ambition instead of Ambition-Couture your order production took some more days to be ready. Our crftsme are making their best to finish and to ship your order asap.

Seems I was just lied to with any excuse for the delay (they decided on it being the modification request) then ended up making the initial case anyway so really no reason for this huge delay. Poor service all round.

Will see what they say about it as I'm really not happy spending this much with this shocking level of service.
