**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Thread ****

bought a wet application screen protector which wasn't too bad, but it only lasted a week before i ripped it off... can't beat the feel of a naked screen :)

Couldn't agree more. Don't use a case or screen protector so I get to actually appreciate what the phone was designed for.

I'm i the only one who uses my S8 without any screen protector?

I've had mine since release. Not a single scratch.

Me too. Glass still clean.

Just got my S8 back. Had an issue with the top speaker going very quiet and muffled. Made it useless for phone calls. Dropped it in at Carphone Warehouse last week and they said they'd probably send it back to Samsung. I originally bought it off Carphone. So they rang to say it had been fixed - in under a week Picked it up and with Tech Guys repair report and it says they replaced front and rear glass, vibration motor and battery then Full System Diagnostic and supposedly updated firmware. No mention of speaker so was quite expecting it still not to work. I was wrong, all works fine. They didn't send it to Samsung but did it themselves (Tech Guys)

Glad to have it back. Been using Moto X Style and a Galaxy S8 it isn't.

What's the point in getting a phone like the S8 with a curved edge to edge screen if you're going to put it in a frame?

Pardon ? What frame ?

The one that comes with the kit is for installation of the glass only lol

Besides, what's with a bumper/frame type case ? Each to their own I guess.

I have my s8+ in a case, rear skin and screen protector, why ? 6 months down the line I can sell it for more than a battered up s8+ of similar age :)

I work on a farm so a case is pretty much essential. That and the screen got a scratch 5 minutes after taking the cover off and walking between 3 rooms in clean trousers. Wasn't best pleased at the time.

Eventually I put a small crack in the screen even with the case, so I ended up removing it totally.

Anyway I finally got the phone sent back on insurance after a few months and about 10 more cracks and received it back repaired today.

Looks a bit of a sloppy job to be fair, the finger print scanner was wonkey and a bit loose until I jiggled it back into place, and the camera has these 2 weird light spots that show up on the screen and also on the finished picture. Will have to look at it going back again I guess.

I work on farms too. I have a Ringke case on mine. Gives it some protection but not sure it would fare well if dropped onto concrete. Main reason for case is to improve grip as bare it is a bit like a bar of soap.

do have a dbrand on the back though for some extra grip

Naked screen feels excellent. I just use a Spigen Neo Hybrid case that i've been using from day one.
I have dropped my phone on few occasions. And have been lucky so far.

Been debating my pixel replacement for far too long so made this decision on an orchid grey s8 this morning. Went direct to samsung via perkbox and got it for £580 iiirc with a free vr headset

Looking forward to it

+1. I don't see the point of cases or screen protectors on a phone with edge display. Mine lives in a shirt pocket, trouser pocket, on a desk or in my bag and not a scratch after 3 months so far.

Someone up-thread mentioned working on a farm. Personally, I wouldn't really take anything onto a farm that is classed as a "luxury good" e.g. S8+, Note 8 or a iPhone X. Or anywhere like a construction site or a chemical plant or suchlike. I would be taking a more rugged phone if I needed a phone on me.

Guys, I’m gonna try android again for a while and I’ve got an S8 in my sights. Is this still a good phone to get currently for ~£450?

Hey mate. For the money there's no better phone right now

Is that £450 for brand new or used ?

It’s from a local shop, “as new” with all the wrappers still on, unused accessories etc. Have used this guy before and he’s pretty reliable.
