**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Thread ****

Mine does! In complete darkness if you immediately unlock the phone to a white BG screen like gmail, you can see it subtly adjust the white balance.

I've found a new bug in the latest beta, at least for me. More often than not, if I launch the Camera app by double-pressing the power button while the phone is asleep, the shots aren't saved. When I unlock the phone and launch the Camera app it instantly crashes until I relaunch it. Then it's fine again.

Works ok on my S8 on beta 5. I've tried a few times yesterday. I've not really had any issues and battery is about the same as on nougat. When final release becomes available I think I'll probably do a reset and clear cache.

Official Oreo update file has been leaked for the Snapdragon versions. Reports are that it's extremely smooth. Also it includes the January patch and Dolby Atmos.

The rest of us should see the OTA around the 17th given it was that date last year for the S7.

Nice, can't wait! Hopefully performance/smoothness improves as I do find the gs 8 to be slightly choppy at times in animations (changing animation speed to 0.5x did help though), my 5x and even my 5 were buttery smooth in comparison!!!

Have to say though, whilst I still prefer stock android, this touchwiz skin is more "fun" than plain stock if that makes any sense :p Not to mention, a lot of the extra features are very handy.

Yes, get odd stutters with Oreo but hoping it gets better as we get to towards final. I can't remember if they were always there though ;)

I've used stock android for some time with Moto X phones. Getting used to touch whizz or whatever they call it these days - Experience or something? Using such as Nova Launcher helps. Can't get on with Bixby and would prefer it banished for good. Haven't done yet but presume anything with Bixby in its name can be deactivated with BK Disabler without bringing the whole house down? All told, the S8 is one of the best phones I've owned. Maybe better speakers next time Samsung :D

I've just received my s8+ and was given a wireless quick charge with it, along with the USB C charger.

The model is EP-NG930. Can I just use any USB charger? Or am I best with one of certain specs or even an official Samsung one?

The Samsung wireless fast chargers only properly work with Samsung Adaptive fast charger outlets. With anything else that's QC compliant, it will just start and stop charging every few seconds after a bit. Seems to be locked to using Samsung only chargers for some reason.

Any hints for buying a guaranteed genuine version?

Just use the one that came with the phone. I don't trust ebay/Amazon and the official retailers are too pricey. You can then just buy an Anker or Aukey QC2.0/3.0 one to use with the phone when wired which is perfectly fine.

The phone is USB C (like totes obvs :p) and the wireless charger is USB micro. Bought the phone new (used for a week and no packaging) from a friend and I think the charger is left over from his s7 edge he just threw in.

I'll see if have any chargers that work with it.
I think using any old charger on an S3 caused it to have a drasticly short battery life and bumpy battery!

Its not called touchwiz anymore.

You can just use the C cable, they are not specific to the charger. S7 charger won't matter, the product is exactly the same!

That's what I mean, just use a Micro USB cable on the wireless charger plugged into the S7's wall mains charger. You don't have to use a Samsung cable.

I think I've had my fill of chinese phones now, the lack of warranty when something inevitably goes wrong has been frustrating.
S8 plus I think is the way forward after looking at some phones today. Oneplus 5T was also nice.

Am I right in thinking the S9 will be out soon? I presume the S8 will have a price drop?

I get you now. I've got the s8 charger and USB cable but only the wireless charging cable so was looking for an other charger so I don't have to carry the charger about.
As said think I'll see what chargers work.

First day I've had the phone set up and liking it. I keep trying to swipe the screen with the always on display to bring it to an unlock screen.
