**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Thread ****

For once I'd actually consider importing the Snapdragon version of the S8 (unless the S8 uses the SD835 globally of course, or the Exynos version is equally specified).

Looks like Qualcomm is not holding back in terms of the ISP features.

It's the same marketing spiel everywhere isn't it?

Doubt you'll see any differences between the exynos and snapdragon modes in terms of camera.

If there was I'd imagine he Exynos would yield better results considering its Samaungs in house processor made specifically for devices like the S8.

Assistant isn't as advanced as Bixby supposedly is. You can talk to it like a person, and show Bixby objects via the camera, and it can pull up things based on the context of what you ask it and such like. It's also said to be intertwined into a lot of other aspects of the phone whereas Google Assistant is not.

and xbox connect lets you really be in the game!

Seriously if any of you think SOFTWARE technology is anywhere near this close from a HARDWARE company needs to get checked.

Cortana - Second rate after years of development
Assistant - Second rate after months of development
Siri - Second rate after years of development
Bixby - Not even released.

It can't even piggy back off existing software because they themselves are still beta.

Who won't be buying it due to the finger print placement then? :p

Difficult to say right now as I wouldn't want to jump into buying it considering I usually hold my phone in my right hand, that should in theory lead the finger print scanner being quite a reach to actually use it given its placement to the right of the camera lens (on the rear).

If it was on the left of the camera lens (on the rear) it would be in a more natural and reachable position.

I'll probably need see it and play about with it for myself to truly grasp how the placement affects use.

I never use the fingerprint scanner anyway so that wont effect me. I normally always go for the note series but if the plus is really 6.3 inches it may as well be a note series minus the pen as I never seem to use the pen much anyway lol.

I wonder how much my contract will go up with the Galaxy S8, i'm on that O2 refresh and I can upgrade "on O2" after a year, but i've got 20 percent off and i'm not sure the s8 will initially have the discount. I just had to shell out 75 squid as I cracked my screen only fixed it so I can upgrade in March/April.

S7 Edge still going very strong here, will wait for next years offerings :)

If I didn't have the S7 Edge I'd probably consider this though.

Just read the Sony image sensor for phones announcement that can record 1000fps at 1080P and has ultra low light sensitivity thanks to the new imager.

The samples look superb.

Appetite has been wet

Maybe I should wait for the next Xperia :p

Sony won't put their best sensors in their phones inexplicably, and if they did it would be nerfed with super blurry software processing that can't be switched off.
