**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Thread ****

Is there a chance of a decent drop in RRP for the S7 models when this is released?
I doubt there will be much of a drop if any for one rather scary reason, and that is the sheer cost that the S8 is expected to come in at (£700 for the smaller base model).

Another reason is that the S8 is so different and Samsung know that some will opt for the S7 while they can.

So basically are we looking at the S8 being marketed as super high end phone, and not so much a replacement for the 7 range?

It is a replacement for the S7 of course, but they're so different in use and price that while the S7s still sell I doubt they will be discounted by much if at all.

Plus you have that A5 sitting around £369 so I doubt they'd want to take too much attention away from that.

You could be looking at the below:

A5: £369
S7: £499
S7E: £549
S8: £699
S8+: £799

At those prices my Pixel XL is beginning to look like an absolute bargain :p

I was getting quite stoked up for these, but the prices being touted are ridiculous and I'm not convinced about the idea of 3000 / 3500 mah batteries, 10nm process or not.

The battery is dying in my current phone but it's still beautifully smooth and satisfying to use. If these new Galaxies don't tick every box I'll just wait to see what comes down the line.

Obviously it's all speculative from me but it does make sense they may want to go down the Apple route where you have the iPhone 7/7+, iPhone 6S/6S+ and iPhone SE.

The Pixel will definitely seem like a bargain but Pixel 2 will likely seem like even more of one!

I think it will sell really well given the usual Samsung marketing machine at work, and these new features it has. Microsoft failed with Continuum by marketing it poorly, Samsung has the funding and presence to do it right, and with everything that has happened the past year, they won't be letting this one go down the pan.

I also read that it is expected to outlet the S7.

I would definitely make use of DeX at both my work and home desktops.

Maybe eventually, once the prices come down.

So this dex thing turns the phone into a laptop/desktop?
Don't understand the appeal? When I want to use my desktop I'll use that. Unless I'm missing something? Also, what would you use on Android on a big screen?
