**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Thread ****

it will be interesting to see just how far the prices can be driven down on both the S7 and S7 edge on the back of it but considering there looks like there will be a clear different between the two it may be unlikely.

That's what I'm thinking, it's almost like they are pricing it as a higher class product more than a replacement. Still only a couple weeks or so for me to wait and see, would hate to take out a contract for a S7e and have it drop in price a week later or something.

Definitely the right decision to wait it out.

That theme looks crap...:(
Not really a theme is it, more just yet another grid of icons. It continues to surprise me no one has managed to come up with anything a bit more modern and imaginative as a UI for Android given the graphical power at it's disposal.

Please tell me that in that video he's pressing the power button and that you don't actually have to swipe to go from the lock screen after using the fingerprint reader.

I thought he was just using the finger print scanner and it unlocked the phone and took him to the home screen, no swipe or power button required which is what I'd expect.

I think that's a dev prototype, or the all black colour option.

There is said to be a matte black and other colours too.

Perhaps. He either swipes up on the screen or certainly presses on it before it goes to the home screen.

Am i still the only person who thinks this phone looks comically long? The form factor/ aspect ratio seems insanely long and narrow!
Reminds me of the apple longphone meme that did the rounds when the iPhone 5 came out.

No, I said that for a while too. I don't like it.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say this won't do very well vs s7 line

Price and look busy doesn't work. It looks cheap, but it's expensive. And I don't like the rounded corners of the lcd screen

If this had an LCD screen it would definitely fail :D

I think it will sell really well given the usual Samsung marketing machine at work, and these new features it has. Microsoft failed with Continuum by marketing it poorly, Samsung has the funding and presence to do it right, and with everything that has happened the past year, they won't be letting this one go down the pan.

I also read that it is expected to outlet the S7.

I would definitely make use of DeX at both my work and home desktops.

Hmmm, I'm really not sure i like the look of this that much :( Looks a step backwards from the s7 to me.

It looks too long and a bit plastic for my liking. Then there's that rear fingerprint reader.

I'd probably buy an s7 edge over this depending on a price drop.

At this rate it's highly probable I will just wait for the Pixel 2. I have seen the new features of Android O. and the battery saving improvements are very appealing, as is a bunch of other stuff.

S8 won't get O until end of the year at the very least going by past experiences.
