The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

On a crappy ipad no wonder I can’t view anything with flash!

Talking about PMDG....A very frustrating night with the Jetstream! After blowing my engines about 20 times I actually managed to sort it. Found a link where somebody gives a very good explanation with pictures (don’t laugh :p)

After the issues with the engines then came the FMC and that’s a another story altogether. Will keep plugging away though, just like the ifly and ATR.

Also played around with the RAS Duke, very nice plane to fly.

Blue how is that Lancair? Say its **** please so I don’t want to spend anymore money! ;)

Found this website. Not sure if it’s been posted before. I have quite a bit on USA scenery(FTX) so it works perfectly. Loads of charts for the USA. www.skyvector.com

I also watched a You Tube vid of PMDG giving a presentation to Aerosoft in Germany back in May. I think we not far away from the 777 coming out! :D

I had an impromptu quick flight last night in the Lancair.

I used VasFMC to hook it up to a flight plan and did my usual IFR down to Jersey and made really good progress.

Initial impressions is that it's awesome. Very good buffeting effects, engine vibration effects and a little difficult to slow down on my first landing.

It's very agile with lovely cockpit details. Installation was easy with a configuration manager to set it up.

After reading the AVSIM review, I'm sure they want you to buy the Reality XP GPS to compliment it, but that looks too expensive for my liking.

V,

I'm glad you're not paying for those engines in real life. :D

I should be about tomorrow (thurs 5th) for a flight.

Am seriously considering the Reality XP too.... Bonus is that it integrates in the Lancair and the Duke so easily... Keep talking myself out of it as I'm trying to do more VOR to VOR Nav.... So maybe the standard GPS will do... I keep trying to convince myself... ;-)

The Lancair is great, isn't it? I've not been back in the PMDG 737 since...

I've struggled with the Jetstream too - Got my head around the engines (I think I know the guide that you're referring to - a godsend!), but the FMC has me in knots... I've done the tutorial a good few times, but still can't quite get the flow of it.

I use AivlaSoft EFB. You can get a whole flight together and wang it into the FSX GPS... But it has its drawbacks. The Reality thing could be good, but it's another expense... :(

VasFMC is a nice halfway house and can do FMC in FSX on any aircraft.

I will hopefully get some more airtime on it over the weekend, but it looks like it'll remain in my frequently used aircraft 'hangar'.

I know mate not the most popular pilot around the hanger lol! I know how to start them now, so they might stick me back in the cockpit :p

What is VasFMC? Is it freeware. I might use that for my two dukes because I’m also not paying for the extra gps’s.

Rich, I know, the FMC is not easy. I saved a flight from EFB and added that to the FMC but even that is not straight forward  Watched a couple of Vids from You Tube and those have confused me even more. Will crack on with it over the weekend again.

I’m about tonight too, 7:30ish also at home tomorrow, I mean working from home..;)

Just read that ORBX/FTX are working on.

EGHR- Chichester/Goodwood
EGKA- Shoreham/Brighton Airport
EGHI – Southampton International

Also doing a number of New Zealand and American airports too.

I love their work and will be looking forward to these new projects.

Another good website if you like flying in Oz

http://www.crc.id.au/xplane/charts/

It's says xplane but they should be the same for Ftx.?

I used to use a program which gave IFR (Sid, Waypoint, Star format for 737NGX) routes for UK to UK airports, however in a format I've lost this program and can't find it again, my google skills are failing me. Does anyone have any idea what this program was? Also, are there any websites other than flightaware and EuroFPL which are good for getting IFR routes?

I use vroute, though you have to purchase the premium version for the ability to export the files as .rte - the type thta you can import into PMDG craft (as company routes).

I use Electronic Flight Bag, pricey but very very good(thanks Blue :p). You can save normal FTX flight plans, can also save for ifly, PMDG, Level D and a few more(at work so cant open it.) I also subscribe to Navigraph which I then download the latest AIRAC cycle and import this into EFB plus into my planes too.

Are people online tonight? I messages Rob at Realair simulations and got my old codes for their SF260 and scout package so I fancy some aerobatic entertainment this evening if anyone's up for it. The 260 should be a good match for the Lancair.
