Also in the configuration panel, I have selected all the options i.e. “install static aircraft” and for some reason I don’t have any aircraft at these airports and yes in my fsx options(aircraft) I have chosen aircraft too.

I’m around most of the week,

Mon – After 8.30
Tuesday – Yes
Wednesday – After 9
Thursday – most of the day, at home.
Friday – Yes
Weekend – as always, on and off!

I hope we can get some more people on Vatsim and come join myself , Blue and Chaders!

I find Fly-Tampa to overall make better airport scenery than Orbx - not really from a visual standpoint but because FlyTampa can actually make very high density scenery (like Hong Kong) with decent performance, something Orbx doesn't seem to bother doing. As for the UK2000 scenery, the VFR airfields aren't supposed to be extensively done scenery and it's not supposed to be anything like Gatwick Extreme. His extreme sceneries are properly done, the VFR airfields aren't anything special.

I think why Orbx gets the nod for me is, besides doing airports they also do the terrain regions too. I have Australia, NZ South Island and all the North American ones. They are simply stunning.

I agree with you about the VFR airfields, nothing special :( but very impressed with Gatwick Extreme.

Blue, yes could be a config thing but have gone through all of it and can’t see anything? It could just be something like my clouds settings....:rolleyes:
 
Me I like the VFR Airfields, you can instantly recognise the buildings etc. and thus the airfields. For circa 30p each I think they're a bargain.
 
Just had a great flight tonight on vatsim - took off from Aldergrove and the guy doing ATC ended up being my old boss! ATC most of the way into Gatwick, vectored off the WILLO3B arrival with thankfully no holds but I had a hold programmed for WILLO incase I needed it. Great fun!

Ringo nice one. I do enjoy flying into Gatwick(only done it once with ATC) I got online just after 9. Did a flight with FedEx VA, Frankfurt to Paris-Charles de Gaulle. Frankfurt Ground and Approach were online. So got my SID and RWY clearance from ground and then once I was ready for departure I tuned into Approach. They were very good and helpful. Made my way down to Paris, no ATC. But a nice little flight indeed.

No sure what is wrong with my scenery? Yesterday I was saying how good Gatwick Extreme was. Last night it looked terrible. Not sure what has happened. I’m going to do a clean install of all my scenery. Going to redo all my VFR airfields too.


I'm around tonight from 7:45/8:00
 
Cheers for the link. Now that I've got my gaming PC built I can make some headway into getting online with VATSIM. I'm going to tweak my performance etc first, and then start some simple VFR flights/circuits online to see what it's like.

Then perhaps I can join a few of you one evening! :)

we still do VFR circuits ever so often and Blue is a great teacher.....so come join us whenever you ready!

We also have Ringo and Chaders who are very clued up too.

If you running a Nvidia card. I have a good link for tweaking(on home pc, will add when I get home)

I used the one on the PMDG General Forum @ AVSIM. Is that the one you'll point me at? I found the anti-alias seemed a little strong when I overrode the application settings using nVidia inspector and it detracted from the experience so I've gone back to the in-game anti/anis/FPS limiter.
 
Here's a few screenshots of my own of Hong Kong. I'm proud of these, this is how I run the sim all the time, never drops below 15fps and is usually at 20 with these settings, even on my old Q6600 :). There's a bit of aliasing on the plane, but if I turn on more AA it kills the performance too much, but I hardly ever look at the outside of the plane so it doesn't bother me.

Has anyone ever had issues of crashes when trying to install UTX Europe? My new build rig keeps going Tango Uniform when I try and install...is very odd
