The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

As far as I understand, it's just one dev doing it, and he's been working on a second project which is taking up all his spare time (this is not his job, just something he does on the side). He has committed to adding to the database once this second project is complete. Don't worry, it has the main aircraft in there and I've never had any crashes/bugs with the software.

Yes PFPX is the new product and I can't wait for it - it's taking far too long though!

Oh and I got readmitted to British Airways Virtual again tonight :D So now to begin rebuilding my hours back to Captain for the 777.......

So, Happy Bunny.

Just did a cracking flight from LEPA back to EGKK. Finally got the whole routine nailed again after being away for so long. Here comes the hours :D

So, I'm reading up as much as I can on Vatsim preparing for my first flight. I'm so used to flying around the UK in the 737NGX that I could do it with my eyes closed, but I'm not sure a flight into heathrow is ideal for my first few flights. What are some good routes for the first few times, with good ATC guys that will give me a bit of slack?

If you're available, join in with the group when we fly online. That way, we have mumble voice client running and are tuned into the ATC, so can discretely help eachother with the ATC on VATSIM.

There's one BIG jump in learning the ATC, but when it's broken down, you'll see there's only so many things that can be said at certain points.

Also, join us in a 'shared cockpit' of a Cessna for a some circuits at a manned airfield so you get to know what to say and when. For this you'll need a Gamespy account, a VATSIM account, sqawkbox or FSINN and FSX with SP2.

I'll be on Mumble from 7.40pm ish tonight. We're flexible on what we do dependent on who turns up.

If you're going to do it alone, don't forget to put that you're a 'new pilot/member' in your Flight Plan, use the excellent www.vattastic.com to see who's online and choose a short hop, maybe Glasgow to Dublin or Bristol/Cardiff to Jersey.

If that news is true I'm shocked. There was a rumour like this during the development that proved unfounded. Interesting to see M$'s response.

not shocked at all except that it has happened so soon.

This was my reason for being shocked. I'm still sceptical that this is true and not just an Internet rumour, everything I've seen so far links back to that original item.

Edit: As usual looks like I'm too cautious, if Mathijs Kok is reporting it I think it must be true!

Thanks for the offer and advice, I can't come on tonight or for the rest of the weekend but I'm planning to start on Monday. I'l join you all that night.

Flight is a giant fail.
As long as the community continues churning out quality addons for FS9 and FSX like they currently are, we're laughing.

Here are a few shots in South Wales from a multiplayer flight last night, can you spot Tescos? :)

Lukeharvest, Soya or any one of you who have FSX looking great, what REX texture theme do you use?

Main thing I use from REX is cumulus cloud set 49. The sky textures in my screenshots have been the new dawn/day/dusk texture set you get with REX Essential (there's only one so far) - but sky textures are mostly down to personal taste, and I'm currently trying to find a set that doesn't band when using ENB.

My water textures are REX, but the waves aren't. All of REX's waves are either seriously overdone or underdone, I'm just using the default FSX waves, which also give me zero performance loss over the 1x water shader.

FWIW, my screenshots, as you see them, are how I run FSX 24/7. I don't have two settings, one for when I'm doing screenshots (i.e. settings all up) and then one for normal flying. If I turn all the settings on maximum (bar light bloom) the difference I get in performance between that and all the settings on minimum is laughably only about a 3 FPS gain.
