FSX gremlins must be doing the rounds today; I had the exact same today when trying to load up the BN-2 Islander;

tried other add-on aircraft and they worked just fine but for some reason the Islander crashed FSX as soon as selected from menu....uninstall and reinstall sorted it thankfully.....random :confused:

I am running FSX in 'crossfire' mode BUT it's a hack with a little program that forces my cards to think it's playing Crysis. It probably doesn't make a blind bit of difference, but it makes me feel warm inside.

The last tweaks V took me through made my system run at it's best ever and probably maximum performance. Off loading all the 'other' FSX apps to a second PC has really helped too!

I flew from EGCC to EGKK. It was a terrible flight. Lamely guessing theory answers. A go-around at Gatwick. And then....

FSX Crashing last night
I was on final after my go-around and then for the first time ever, FSX complained about running out of memory and then crashed on me.! So you guys are not alone.

In the past I have rolled back to a 'restore point' in Windows which has worked. Sometimes Windows Updates can affect these things. Have a look-see to what was recently updated.

Well done mate I knew you would.

I think the issue is level d as I found a lvld.dll error but not flown the 767 for ages so not sure why its giving me this error. Will uninstall it and then try it again.

I will be on later for flying. I can do 7.30 or so I have a mate who might join us I used to fly with him years ago.

Soya, mine crashes just as you enter the plane for the first time. I see the cockpit and scenary for a split second, and then it crashes direct to desktop.

I was hoping to get a slight boost in performance (I know FSX is heavily CPU dependant), since I also playing in 2560 x 1600, so you can imagine how well my FSX runs :)

Such a shame the game was never optimised for newer hardware :(

Oh, and gratz to Blue for passing VATSIM P1 :)
 
alright chaps, so i bought yesterday flightradar pro for android and was having a play with it, i noticed that at non major airports flights descend below 10.000ft at speeds exceeding 250 knots. I thought that all flights are obliged to max speed 250knots below 10Kft ?

There is a clause that allows aircraft in certain types of airspace to exceed the limit at ATC's discretion, or something to that description. Air law never was my strong subject...

Edit: Having said that flightradar's up-to-the-minute tracking seems to be a little sporadeous sometimes. Think I once saw a 747 on final into Heathrow doing something stupid like 90kts

Edit edit: having seen chaders post above (im tired :p), yeah flightradar is reporting GS when that law applies to IAS

Been reading through the thread but hasn't really got me all the information I want to return to FS-X in a big way.


I've ordered acceleration, I have Concorde X and Heathrow X and I am considering Just Flight VFR - The Complete collection for UK scenery.

Sadly my 6870/980X can't really cope going overboard with scenery at 2560x1440 so I was wondering about the following:

1. A google has shown many guides on how to tweak FS-X, is there one 'definitive' guide to performance tweaking?

2. I'd like to buy a complete world mesh, a number of products exist but what is the best?

3. Is the Just Flight VFR best for the UK for photo scenery?

4. World Airport packs, does anything complete exist? A number of regional airport packs exist but i'd like to upgrade all major airports to something decent!!

I'm sure I'll have more questions after you've answered them!!!

Hey dude when you have a moment could you tell me how to use this please? Ive extracted it into Program Files and then used the ADD button to point it to FSX. All that worked great and it created some folders (injFX_Settings, injFX_Shaders) in FSX and dumped d3d9.dll in there etc.

But I see no change in the sim. To see if the tool was working I tried some extreme settings (like Sepia power to max) but no change - even in fullscreen.

:(

Am I doing this right?

Anyone else have problems with a disconnecting joystick in this game with windows 8? It usually happens when I click in to Super traffic board on my other monitor or use the internet on long flights. Are there any missions I can download? Its getting boring just flying randomly.
