The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

We'll go on Vatsim, but it will be a softly softly approach if there's new members.

I'll re-post the Mumble details this week. So in the least, have mumbled installed and working before then with a headset and mic. :)

I saw this on AirDailyX

http://www.airline2sim.com/

Wondered if anyone had used there tutorials before and if they were any good? They are $30 each so £19 ish so not cheap but wondered if they are worth it or not?

Thanks

These guys were at the show on Saturday. Got chatting to them and I was very impressed. They have put a lot of man power and money into these training vids. They have also got a real Q400 pilot involved too. I think he said they flew from Isle of Man to Birmingham

Speaking of Airline2Sim, I had an excellent Aerosoft A320 tutorial last night from Vuvuzela.

We flew from Edinburgh to Bristol offline.

I keep being surprised by the fidelity of this simulation. I had the First Officer doing most of the hard work, and even the plane autoland for me.

I also love the sound of the power transfer unit.

Great stuff.

Invoice has been sent mate :D

My plane for some reason was not responding well. The FMC was not even identifying Bristol when I wanted to add the Star. And the the plane wouldn't respond to the speed I was giving it too. So over all a frustrating but satisfying night, as Blue mastered the Airbus. :)

Does the Aerosoft a320 offer a shared cockpit?

I've been holding off buying the A320 in the hope of wasting my cash on the FSLabs one.

I'm not sure it does offer a shared cockpit.

I was going to hold off for the FSL version, but am really glad I bought the Aerosoft one. I picked it up for 27 EUR in their sale.

I'm sure the FSL one will blitz it in terms of fidelity, but for an Airbus layman like me, I can do all I want to do in terms of short hop flights in a A320 series.

The fact it comes with a fuel planner, tons of liveries, ground services, voice cockpit, and a forum full of support, I'm pleased it's part of my fleet.

It's certainly not wasted cash! :p

Having been away for the weekend, and getting home to realise I had an extra hour, I made full use of that by going on Vatsim for 2 flights.

The first was taking the A320 from Jersey to Bristol. I had ATC Tower at Jersey and Bristol and the flight was good. I used all bits learned in my lesson last week.

I then few from Bristol to Guerney in the Dash 8. I still can't get the complete hang of the VNAV and couldn't figure out where to enter an Airway in FMC. Please tell me.:o

And Having waiting and purchased the T777, it has been sat in the hangar for a few weeks. I'll have to take that out this week. There was lots of pages in PC Pilot this month on it.

Orbx FTX Global Iceland Demo released today

Download this version if you have FTX Global installed:

http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/67070-ftx-global-iceland-demo-on-version/

For those who don't have FTX Global then you need this version

http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/67069-ftx-global-iceland-demo-off-version/

This is a full demo of FTX Global textures with Orbx's custom landclass, vectors and mesh.

This Iceland demo package is a taste of what Orbx will be releasing over the coming months for the rest of the globe.

Had a small go last night with the Demo and I wasn't that impressed or maybe I'm missing something? I just looks the same as Global. Maybe my layers are not correct or something.

Will try later again and see if its any better.

Well the demo uses the FTX Global textures so I doubt it'll look much different. What should be better is the landclass definitions and vector data, like the coasts and roads. Not having FTX Global I thought it looked pretty good, except for the airport I flew in to which had no builds at all, just crossing gravel runways. I forget it's name.

Sorry that's what I meant, the landclass definitions and vector data. Agree about the airport too very poor.

Will have another go in a bit after my flight.
