Quick Sales Tip

Aerosoft been having weekly weekend sales, this week, all their German airport are at 20% off, not a bad discount as some of those airports are very nice, if you fly in that area ofcourse.

Ok well an update for those interested :D

I'm now flying from SBNT Augusto Severo (Brazil) to SOCA Rochambeau (French Guiana) having flown in several legs down the west coast of North and South America and I'm making my way back up now. Pictures to follow :D

Ahhh - good to hear you're on track. Awaiting photos...

I've made it to Singapore Changi from Bangkok in a B-1B Lancer (Virtavia). ILS failed to engage so made a manual landing - should do that more often! Was quietly pleased with myself :-)

Will try and put some in flight shots up - what's the best method for this? I've registered a Dropbox account as I understand you can link pictures into forum posts...

Cheers,

Rich

Great to hear. Be sure to stop off at SVMI (Caracas), lovely approach along the coast. Did this one recently from (KMCO) Orlando.

Dropbox should work fine. I tend to use picasa.

Some shots from the flight I mentioned above:

A very nice selection of shots there shadow, well done. Some 'odd' approaches mind you ;).

Here is my latest batch showing off the latest aircraft from Captain Sim, the nostalgic 737-100.

Lovely shots as aways Soya. :) Fantastic looking aircraft that retro 737-100! Noticed it's only 10 euros but it says "exterior model" ? Presumably there is not 3D VC, what about a basic 2D panel?

A few more shots from my FsPX career mode. (CLS DC-10-10 & -30 models).

Ok so I arived back at EGPH Edinburgh this afternoon having completed my around the world trip. :D

I'll now sort the batch of pictures and post the best. I'll also post my route. I took neither the shortest or fasted route but generally went places that interested me. I did try to head mainly east though. If I fly around Africa, across the top of Russia and Canada at some point then I will have flown around all the major landmasses.

As an aside I'm currently flying the Level D 767 EGKK to LCLK having completed my around the world flight in the 737-800. All I'm going to say is I hate to admit it but the 767 is looking at being retired..... I've enjoyed the Level D 767 but to be honest after spending all the time in the new PMDG 737 you soon realise the shortcomings of the other models. Systems not modeled as deeply and the VC is lacking in comparison. Its a shame but Level D need to either update it or release a new model. Then again the same can be said for 99% of PMDG's competion if your a serious Big Iron simmer now.....

I foresee a LOT of time in the 737....

Ok Here's the route I took. Plug the 4 digit ICAO into Google if you want to know the airport.

EGPH - LEPA - DTMB - LTBS - OMDB - VAGO - VYMD - VTBD - WIII - YPDN - YPPH - YPAD - YMML - NZQN - NZCH - NZAA- YSSY - YBBN - YBCS - AYPY - WABB - WBSB - RPLL - VHHH - RCTP - RKSI - RJTT - UHHH - UHMM - PADU - PANC - PAJN - CYVR - KSFO - MMLP - MPTO - SPIM - SCEL - SAWH - SAEZ - SBRJ - SBNT - SOCA - SVMG - TLPL - KMIA - CYYZ - CYYT - EGPH.

48 flights, all completed online via VATSIM with real world weather via ASX and REX in real time. I have a fair few addon airports and scenery's that I've bought over the years but too be fair you tend not to notice the scenery when its busy and your landing :D I also have the flights logged with Thomson Virtual using there ACARS flight logging. Their were a few that had to be redone due to technical's, but each leg was completed prior to commencing the next.

All in all It was great fun, I learned a lot about the new PMDG 737 and her systems and can now start on gaining more competence in hand flying her. Then its time for the failures :D I look forward to redoign it with the PMDG 777 when its released :D Also if MS Flight lives up to expectations then I think I'll go again.

If PMDG released Concorde instead of the 777... :D

Which is unlikely. They stated on there forums that 'retro' aircraft were not very good sellers. Specifically the MD-80. They were both surprised and dissapointed. So looks like its current and new aircraft only for the foreseeable. The 777 will be stunning I bet. Best of all worlds then, 737 for short and medium haul routes. 777 for etops stuff and then the updated 747 for extra fun :D Sorted!

The Dash 8 should be fun when they release it as well :D

These screenshots make me die a little inside when I play FSX on my MacBook Pro with integrated Intel graphics :(

The thing I lust after the most is being able to crank the autogen and vehicle (land, sea & air) scenery up, and be able to use 'detailed clouds'. Simple clouds are rubbish! :(

Yeah unfortunately the intel HD onboard gpu isn't going to cope at all. I never fly with everything at full settings, I dont think anyone does...

Traffic is a massive it, I tend to have it set to 39%, GA traffic to 0, road to 0 and water traffic to 30%.

Same with autogen, having it set to medium-high gives me a decent balance between performance and visuals.

The other major performance limiter for me is light bloom, very rarely have this on, unless I'm flying with photographic scenery it stays off.

As for simple clouds, this is where the intel HD will be the limiting factor unfortunately. Remember for most of the images here people are using REX 2.0 for weather (and water too).

One possibility is to have various settings for depending on what type of flight your doing. So for high altitude, autogen, traffic etc aren't really needed so perhaps you could increase cloud settings? vice versa for VFR perhaps.
