The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

i use ultimate traffic 2, mainly because i think the actual ai models look better, but i also like how the ai follow real life flight plans/schedules as oppsoed to going from one airport to another. Downside is that some major airlines are missing (biggie for me is ryanair, but you can find liveries online and import/create a schedule) and there is no military traffic, which i believe MTX does have.

Thanks for the praise & comment on my video folks, much appreciated. I put much time & effort into that one but at least I feel satisfied with the result.

Great video Soya. How do you pan the 'video camera' for all those new angles?

I use the custom spot camera in FSrecorder. If you have FSrecorder installed it sets up 3 different custom made camera which you can edit at your delight. I used a modified spot view, similar to FSX spot camera, but with smoother movement and zoom. EZwalk is a good program too and freeware, but didn't use that in this particular video.

Will check the video out when I get home.

Any users of Traffic X? What's it like?

As a heads up - Just Flight are selling it for £10 this weekend

Not an endorsement from me, as I don't have it. Though for a tenner, I might just give k a quick spin.

There are many payware and freeware AI packages out there. IMO it is worth getting at least one of them as it can really liven your flight sim. As for Traffic X, been using that for a while and I am pretty happy with it, it has some great tools and you can even create your own custom AI flight plans with either the supplied AI models or your own installed airplanes.

Soya's video features Traffic X. It's one area of flight sim that I never bothered with but I think I will check it out.

Believe me, as I mentioned above, having some air traffic can really liven up your sim.

Considering Traffic X is only £10 atm plus the Military & Civil Addon pack is half price too (@£6 for both), that's just £16 for a very comprehensive AI package, not bad I would say.

In fact, I am ordering the Military & Civil pack right now.

Thanks for the heads up people! Just grabbed Traffic X and the expansion.

Not had much time for fsx lately, started my job, bought A10C Warthog and got into world of tanks :s

Hoping to get some flying hours in before BF3 hits!

Ordered new GFX card today, hopefully I'll be back in the skies sometime midweek :D. Made the mistake of checking what your GFX card was Soya, completely out of my budget haha. Your build really is epic, wish I could be on FSX with a peice of kit like that.

I'm back with a fresh OS and FSX install on a formatted harddrive with a new GFX card (GTX560) and it's running like a dream! Heres a few screenshots from my short test flight.

I got myself a 560Ti too and I already notice that it is much smoother than the 5850 although I'm not happy with the settings just yet.

Do most people here use nVidia inspector with the recommended setup from 'Tabs' on avsim?

I am having a bit of shimmering but at least the game play is pretty good. The card is so much quieter than the 5850 too. Haven't had any more than 2 hours of use though.

Yep I used the inspector settings and it eliminated almost all the shimmering - still on trees very slightly, though. I jumped from a 4850 so the difference is HUGE for me, even with full HD REX clouds I can maintain a steady FPS.

I need to up my game, some awesome screenshots lately.

Anyone know the best/cheapest place to buy REX 2.0? Gutted I missed the traffic x for cheap too, might just get it anyway.

In-game limiter, I've read in several places it does the job perfectly. I set it to 35. Have not installed a shader fix to my knowledge?! Where is that from?

Also gutted I missed the Traffic X offer, seems like a bargain.

This might be useful for some people, downloaded 5 or 6 aircraft from this thread - most notable include a free Justflight C152, free CLS Piper Arrow, an awesome Tiger Moth and a B25.

The shader fix was discovered by Bojote - the same guy as developed the online cfg tool.

I think it was originally made for ATI users so maybe it isn't required for nVidia. I'll have to check it out.

Glad to hear that the 560ti is an improvement over the 5850.

I've had the itch to upgrade mine - the fact that my 5850 sounds like a hoover when playing BF3 might have compounded the urge! And it's good to hear that the nvidias offer an improvement over the ATIs.

robmol - Love the IcePilots homage

Traffic X - I bought it, but it is AI planes that can grind FSX to a slow FPS, so I only ever find my system limited to single prop planes as AI traffic.

I went to the Shoreham Flight 1 Open day which was great. I bought the ATR 72-500 for now and the 737 NGX from the wife :D which I can have for my birthday..

FS2Crew for the above was only £12 today so I picked that up online.

From the open day, I'm also tip-toeing into VATSIM which comes with a lot of reading to get done before my first flight..

Get a busy evening at a major airport on VATSIM and it completely transforms the experience! Reactivated my VATSIM account the other day, doing some reading/research myself to get back up to speed.

Really tempted by the 737 NGX, I've spent far too much money on computer bits lately though :o
