The pictures in this thread are top quality!

Here's me ready for landing a light jet at Liverpool.

Wow! It's truly amazing!! Your system must be very powerful, might I ask what is the spec of your rig?

Not over powerful i7 920 @ 4GHz, GTX470 Overclocked, 6MB Memory & SSD

Lots of addons & 40+ hours spent fine tuning files reading forums ect.

Nice shot. Tweaking it can take an age can't it? I still get the very occasional crash to desktop unfortunately, more often than not mid-flight over the Atlantic!

Yup, luckly I have as much fun tweaking as I do flying.

Here are some AU$6500 screen shots of the new updated FSX over at Orbx site.

2. Our commercial versions of FTX for P3D will be rolled out for the FTX regions first, then airports later. They will be a subset of the product range, not all of them. They will be priced at commercial levels from AU$4000 for NA regions and AU$7000 for all of Australia. Airports will be AU$2500 each. Clearly, this pricing is prohibitive for personal developer use, but very cost effective and affordable for companies who will use FTX to make profit from it. We will not be selling our intellectual property any cheaper than that, it's already priced too low as it is, but we have tested the commercial markets and have been selling licenses at those pricepoints in the past.

Folks,

Recently downloaded http://www.lockonfiles.com/index.php/files/file/1602-fsx-kauai-hawaii-scenery-pack-v100/. I just chanced on seeing this file, and as it is not a big file and want to get a feel of what 3rd party download looks like as opposed to stock terrain.

Impressive! 3rd party truly looks much better. There are still flat polygons, but if you fly higher, they will not look too obvious.

The trouble is that when scenery files are put on 'other' drives rather than on the primary drive, trees and lawns are drawn only when you get near. I wonder if there is a kind of cache that FSX stores ground texture for faster drawing?

I am now more confident anyway for 3rd party add-on, be they payware or freeware. Question is which one should I get? For environment like clouds, suns, fog ...etc which one is the best and FPS friendly?

Also, is there a scenery add-on for Hong Kong also the the Entire United Kingdom?

Have any one of you ever fly from say Hong Kong to the United Kingdom? I understand that FS Simulator has landscape covering our entire planet.

I would put aircraft to the lowest priority.

I love this one, his system is close my mine and it's only 3.2GHz http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DtU8RpXCgzw

Okay - question to you PMDG 737 NXG pilots - how hard is it to fly? It seems pretty involved from what I've seen.

I've been trying to get to grips with the Captain Sim 757 - just about got my head around it before I've had to reinstall everything.

Has anyone embarked on a flight, stopped and saved halfway (or more/less) through and been able to resume the flight okay? (Had an issue with the CS 757 - INS was off when I returned to a mid-flight saved game, so lost the flight plan etc...).

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

Rich

PMDG 737NGX is brilliant - very involved but very good. You can save panel states and I have done so numerous times. When you resume a flight it can take about 15 secs to initialise the panel state again and so you may deviate well off the desired path until everything becomes active.

The 737 systems are fairly easy to get onto. If you can program the FMC properly then you will get the most enjoyment out of it.

Flying it manually is just beautiful. I used to always engage a/p on previous addons at about 1000ft but this thing handles so sweet. Now I'll normally hand fly it to about FL100 and then engage the A/P. The only thing I'm still struggling with is the flare.

I think you posted that in the wrong thread, please remove screen shot. FSX related stuff only here please.

Some more random picks of stuff I done over the past @12-15 months.
Unedited just resized from 2560x1600 (hence the high detail) and carefully JPG'd.

For anyone reading this right now there is a guy running a live stream of his approach into London. He is connected to VATSIM with some live atc going.

Edit: stream finished.

Maybe I'm just tired, but his taxi to gate, well the turns just seemed very abrupt... as if a computer was taxiing him to gate.

Anyway, what software was he using outside of FSX there?

He was taxying fairly fast right enough. Looks like he is using Aerosoft AES which gives you all the vehicles, gate guidance system, airbridges etc. Looks class.

Bit the bullet and downloaded the PMDG 737. Feels lush when flying it.

Only have had a quick turn taking off from Gatwick and flying around the south east, and had a nice little landing at manual landing in Heathrow. The HUD is great for landing - a real aid. Will have a much longer play tomorrow.

Is that streaming you've just mentioned up on YouTube or anywhere? Would be interested in seeing it

Cheers,

Rich

Lost my installation disc somehow during a move so I cant reinstall (current installation is broken). Tempting to go and buy a new copy tomorrow, but its about €50 in shops here :( What makes it more irritating is that treated myself to a new Saitek a few weeks ago.

Blooming heck! This NGX is just another level of complexity!

Just finished the tutorial (Gatwick to Schiphol) - succeeded, but crikey there's a lot going on. Particularly the pre-flight planning.

Quick question - can a flight that's been programmed into the FMC 'integrate' into the rest of FSX - i.e the ATC? It's gorgeous to fly, but I'm used to lots of ATC going on in the background and being 'involved'.

It is stunning to fly, and surprisingly light on the FPS I've noticed. Looking forward to having another flight! :-)
