The 'Official' Screenshot & Tips thread 4 FSX enthusiasts & flight simmers.

Blooming heck! This NGX is just another level of complexity!

Just finished the tutorial (Gatwick to Schiphol) - succeeded, but crikey there's a lot going on. Particularly the pre-flight planning.

Quick question - can a flight that's been programmed into the FMC 'integrate' into the rest of FSX - i.e the ATC? It's gorgeous to fly, but I'm used to lots of ATC going on in the background and being 'involved'.

It is stunning to fly, and surprisingly light on the FPS I've noticed. Looking forward to having another flight! :-)

What I do is use a program called vroute for all my flight planning. You can export the route to a .pln file which can be imported into FSX, and also a .rte file which you can use as a coroute in the fmc. It's a very good program but I'm really waiting for this - http://www.pfpx.com/

I have been trying out Prepar3D exciting times ahead.

I've been reading about that over on the Orbx forum. Have you tried their PNW demo for Prepar3d? Meant to look and perform better than the original FSX version. The talk on the Orbx forum is that LM maybe about to adopt a consumer friendly price in addition to the commercial/developer licenses currently available.

Although most FSX stuff works in Prepar3d I get the impression most EULA don't allow for it. Waiting to see what LM do before I try it.

picnic yes I have been playing with the Orbx PNW demo here is a short video clip I have put on youtube using fraps, very boring.
nvidiaInspector is set on default settings no tweeking.
Good frame rates with fraps running recording at the sametime.

Addons I have got working so far -

Shade
EMBserie
FS Water Configurator (I think it's working)
Sibwings Bird Dog Payware Plane.

I will be trying out other addons soon when I find the time.

Looks good, thanks for sharing. What were the funny flashes right at the end? Do they occur often?

They are not on the original video, got added when uploading to youtube.
Not that it matters but I will upload it again to see if it's there a second time if not I will change the link.
As you may see I am very slack when it comes to youtube videos all my others have the same name & no Description ect :)

Went out and got the Gold Edition this morning, €19.90 thought it was a bargain! Never had problems with changing the language in any other game I've bought in France, the installation menu will be in French but then theres always the option to change it. Seems FSX is different in that it gets locked to one language. FFS.

Cool video, i'm liking the dynamic sky. Listening to the music i was singing...

I have climbed highest mountains
I have flown through the fields
Only to fly FSX
Only to fly FSX
I have scaled these city walls
These city walls
Only to fly FSX
Only to fly FSX

Ok another problem - when I run FSX I get an error message basically saying my graphics card is not supported, it actually says "The graphics card does not meet minimum requirements for shader support. This product requires a geForce3/Radeon8500 class or better graphics card. Flight Simulator will now exit". However I've been running FSX since the day it came out with worse cards that than one I have at the moment (ATI 4850). Any ideas? FSX always causes me huge frustration!!!

I had a problem like that when I had 2 different GFX cards in the PC. Can't remember if I solved it other than taking the weaker card out. The better card was in theory the main display but I guess FSX thought different.

I've only ever had one card at a time. The only thing I can think of, is that I used to have dual screens and (even though the 2nd is shaded out and flagged as unattached) there are still 2 showing up in both ATI CCC and windows display options. But even still, I've had FSX running no problem since I got rid of the other screen. Checked my ATI driver, thats all up to date.

Cheers, glad you liked it. I'm working on another atm, a much larger and more ambitious video. I hope folks will like it considering the amount of time that goes into making these videos, especially this latest one I am working on.

Not sure, but I don't think the Gold edition has the 2 FSX service packs included, if not, DL and install them, mainly SP2. As that might be causing the problem or at the very least, will be avoiding other problems in the future.

I had Acceleration installed though, I was under the impression that included SP2? I've now uninstalled Acceleration and attempting to put the SP's on manually.

If you got Accel then indeed, you do not need any of the SPs. If your problem still persists I would do a google search for your problem. I just pasted your error message and did a quick google search, seems like the problem is common and I'm sure there is a solution in one of the search threads.

Good luck.

Yeah, I've trawled google for hours searching various terms. To be honest, I think it might be PC upgrade time anyway, having a whole range of other problems now so FSX has been put to one side. Thanks anyhow.

So I've decided to swap from an ATI 5850 to nVidia GTX 560. It will be interesting to see the difference that using nVidia for FSX makes. Will report back when I'm up and running.
For now I'm off to Paphos with BAV in the NGX.

I have looked at a few comparisons online and it doesn't suggest that big a difference but it's well known that FSX apparently favours nVidia cards. A guy on the BAV forums said the difference in reality is huge as far as FSX performance is concerned. We will see.

Flight going nicely. Just coasting out over Dover on the DVR8M SID enroute to Paphos!
