*** The Official Sony Ericsson Satio Thread ***

I agree about the Symbian OS. iirc Nokia are giving the OS a major update this year i believe. However, i dont think that Satio would get update to the new OS.

I dont have long now till wait for my X10, which i cant wait.
 
I've got a nice White iPhone 3Gs 16Gb on the way to replace my Satio with no changes to my contract, not bad haggling :)
 
What did you say to them to get it changed? Must admit apart from the camera it feels very clunky to use compared to the girlfriends iphone!

Few emails, one written letter, gave them my trading standards ref number, quoted "Supply of goods and services act 1982" pointed out a clause in my T&Cs :D

It’s just got some software quirks which i ended up getting pretty annoyed about.

This is a small list of problems I had with the device:

1/ Internet - Time Errors and other Internet errors

2/ Delayed Vibrate SMS and when receiving phone calls.

3/ Caller ID Problems

4/ Annoying pause between music tracks

5/ Lack of any support

There are a few more other little software problems on the whole. However, I do still like the phone and I have put my other Voda simcard in it at the moment. There are some areas where the Satio is better than the iPhone, as the Satio allows themes changing sms tones etc... and it has a better signal reception.

To be honest I did not have ANY of the problems you had andyd, or any problem with the phone at all. But i just sold my Satio:eek: why? cos im a heavy texter (around 30+ texts a day) and the touch screen qwerty doest cut it! Then that stupid SE fast port connector started to annoy me as well.

Now im using an N97 mini. No complains so far.. Was hoping to get the xperia X10, but then again no physical keyboard :(

You can't make your own themes for the Satio can you? I notice the latest SE Theme Creator still doesn't support the Satio. The Aino is listed though and I'm very tempted :)

i dont know how its done but it can be done. there loads of home made ones on satioworld forum
 
new firmware update available

various stability stuff and Here’s SE's list of highlights:

* Support for WVGA video recording – The already great video recording will be enhanced to fit the wide screen format and hence resolution is also slightly increased to 864 * 480 pixles. (the preset size will still be VGA, user has to change to get WVGA)
* Upload of pictures to Facebook – It will be possible to upload pictures directly from the picture menu you have on the home screen or from the Media UI.
* Youtube video uploading – It will be possible to upload videos to Youtube directly from the Media UI.
* Conversational messaging – “Conversations” will be nicely integrated in the messaging menu in order to easily find and inspire to more conversations with your friends.
* DLNA support – The new software will support DLNA media server for easy transfer of audio and still pictures. (Note that video is not supported)
* UI improvements – On top of above, several minor UI improvements have been done in order to optimize the user experience.
* The Facebook application that is now available on PlayNow for free download will be included in the sw.
 
When did this new firmware update come out, as i just tried updating, and got told that i already got the latest firmware. Version 2.10.3.25, or is there a different source than the sony website.
 
what network are you on ? o2 have released it but the others should be tommorow or tuesday. mines unbranded and wont let me update either though :/ supposedly its slowly being released across the different regions
 
noticed that yesterday. supposedly this update has stopped the ''hacks'' working too :(

i unbranded my phone but depending how this update goes i might swap back to vodafone because it was definetly better then than it is at the moment
 
updated and this is exactly how the phone should have been on release... less laggy , longer battery life and the facebook intergrations useful
