*** The Official Sony Ericsson Satio Thread ***

update: with regards to my problem with 16gb microSD, I think I finally figured it out. The Satio doesnt support class 6 cards. I tried two 8gb microSDHC class 6 cards and I got the same problem. Has anybody here tried class 6 cards on their Satios?

I havent found one that does that.. Although I have an app that uses the screen to emit bright colours

60+ and growing :D Can we discuss that here? Well my phone is hacked.. think of it as a jailbreaked iphone

if you didnt put it in those words then you probably could have talked about it :/

in threads such as the omnia one theres loads of talk of modded firmware and modded software with no problems

After a little bit more reseach, its been pulled because apparently SE didn't have internet settings available for all networks, & as a result many people couldn't access the internet on their Satio phones and a few other little problems. Its only Carphoneware House that have currently pulled them at the moment, so this is all de branded handsets. One of the reasons is there is a huge software update due in a few weeks to fix all the little niggles. The other is SE doesnt have stocks for the current demand for the phone.

So we just need to wait a few weeks.

This is a quote from the Vodafone forum about the new firmware due soon.

st had this from Sony Ericsson

Dear Mr *****,

Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson.

The issues you have raised are caused by the Software Customisation carried out on the handset by your network provider.

We are currently working to resolve these issues with a software update which we hope to have available in approximately 3 weeks.

apart from the accelometre being a bit wierd sometimes (its how i hold the phone) and Symbian being sluggish on the odd occasion i haven't had one problem i guess i'm lucky!

One thing i will say though, until the Rugby League season starts i have only been using it for calls and texts, so i would probably say this is light usage and i get 3 days out of the battery, but LOLzicopters at when you turn Automatic time updates on, takes a day off that easy, and if you have bluetooth on and take pics and videos i get maybe a day if im lucky, so the battery is a little pants... but apart from that i love it and the Youtube app is awesome!!

Oh one thing aswell, does anyone know where i can get that facebook app from, i must be searching the wrong places.

I am getting the Sony Ericsson Satio tomorrow on vodafone , any good ?

I cant comment on a Vodafone branded Satio because im using a sim free/debranded one. I do not experience any problem on my Satio (except that my phone doesnt support class 6 microSDHC cards). It's already an excellent phone for me! Although a new firmware will be out this week or next week i think. This should solve most of the complains I hear about.

edit: spelling

Quick update for those that are interested in De-Branding the phone

I know everyone is waiting and I want to reassure the masses that Satio flashing/debranding services are on the way ASAP. We’re working on things now and we need everyone to be patient as we perfect the service offering – better to release a few days late and make you all happy then to release early and face technical troubles!

Our apologies for the wait along with our guarentee that you’ll be blown away by the service and support when the time does come. We appreciate your waiting – please do stick with us and we’ll have things launched shortly!

For the detail nitpickers out there (kidding!), “shortly” translates into aiming for Wednesday but stressing that this is not a definite date!

Here is a statment from CPW & P4U

Well these are statements from CPW and P4U
Carphone Warehouse confirmed the suspension. In a statement, the firm said: 'From time to time we experience issues with new handsets, and their software, which may result in a customer experience that is below our usually high standards.

''We want customers to have complete confidence and satisfaction in the handsets they buy from us, which is why we have temporarilly withdrawn the Sony Ericsson Satio from sale. We are working closely with Sony Ericsson to restock the Satio phone as soon as possible and will offer any customer who returns a faulty Satio an exchange of phone.’

A Phones 4u spokesman said: "Due to software issues experienced by a number of our customers, we've decided to temporarily withdraw the Sony Ericsson Satio from Phones 4u. However, we're working very closely with Sony Ericsson to resolve these issues. In the meantime, customers who report a fault with their Satio handset will be offered a non like-for-like exchange."

So is does not say they can not offer the support for it and i would bet they would not be happy to hear Vodafone suggest such a thing.
The phone has been withdrawn because it has a software fault which results in a number of crippling issues.

It really does seem like SE are going the way of Motorola in terms of overall quality. I liked both the SE phones I had, but I'd be reluctant to own another one now considering that every major handset they've released since has been fraught with issues.
