They look good, but not particularly special. I wouldn't, for example, rate them much higher than the iPhone 4 camera, if at all.

I cant honestly say until I've tried it properly though. 'Picture samples' are always a bit all over the place in many cases.

Yea I agree about the sample pictures though.

How the hell did you scratch a desire that much? Desire is one of the tougher screens, try a x10 for a easy to scratch screen :p

The X10 screen is pretty good. The X10 does come with a pre installed screen protector which does scratch easily. :)

:D

While one group of Android phone makers is swinging towards locking their hardware down, Sony Ericsson is resolutely headed in the other direction. The Swedo-Japanese consortium has just announced it will provide a secure and legal way for eager Android hackers to gain full control of the bootloader on some of its upcoming 2011 Xperia line of phones. All four models are covered, the Xperia Play, Neo, Pro, and Arc, however you have to make sure you buy a handset that isn't SIM-locked to a carrier and then there are territorial considerations to take into account. Warranties may still be voided by fooling around with your Xperia's software (again, depends on individual handsets and markets) and SE warns gravely of the potential for "physical injuries or material damage" if you freak your Android into overheating or worse. So proceed with caution, but know that Sony Ericsson is by your side*.

^ ...and it looks no different than most other LCDs (certainly better than something like the HD7)

I'd say the Arc edges ahead of the DHD as the new single core king (running Android)

Well done SE :) (now hurry up and make something to complete with the SGS2 :p)

I believe they have 4/5 new handsets ready for release in the fall, from reading between the lines. ;)

GSM Arena Review :p:D

Very positive review

year ago it seemed Sony Ericsson’s lack of inspiration was becoming chronic. With delayed updates and boring uniform looks the XPERIA lineup was going nowhere.
But something happened and they’re now keen to make up for lost time: a whole new generation of Android smartphones, new type of displays and camera sensors, the PlayStation phone. They’re even about to unlock the boot loader of the new XPERIA family – something Sony Ericsson have been denying developers for years.
The XPERIA Arc is a big part of that – probably the most important part of the plan. The Arc is Sony Ericsson’s first Gingerbread droid, the first to have the new Reality display and Sony’s new Exmor R camera sensor. They’ve given it the best they have but the tech inside doesn’t tell the whole story. It’s the bold lines and compelling elegance that show Sony Ericsson know how to treat a flagship.
The company’s slimmest smartphone is easily the most beautiful to date. The phone looks so good we’re wiling to forgive some of the design choices that were probably forced on the team: the lens and shutter key placement, the non-hot-swappable memory card slot or the lack of auto brightness control.
The Arc has it all in terms of features: big quality screen, awesome 8 megapixel camera and HD camcorder, the latest Android. Not less important, the phone has a soul and spirit.

Anothe review is up.

Tech Radar

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is a very impressive phone al round. The body is unbelievably thin, the screen large and responsive to the touch, the camera the best you'll get today. It's a phone that stands out from the usual black slabs, with Sony Ericsson's take on Android 2.3 offering a more visually impressive experience than that of the similar Nexus S.

Another good review. :D
