Right I have all the files now. I have a generic UK image, generic NCB image. I'll upload them shortly along with the Xperia Flash.

So if anyone wishes to debranded the handset they can use my image.

[UPDATE 22/03/2011] Flashtool BETA version 0.2.9.1
3.0.A.2.181 Global Frmware
3.0.A.2.184 Generic UK

Tutorial on debranding your Xperia arc

1) Switch on the debugging option on your Xperia arc. Go to Menu –> Settings –> Applications –> Development –> Tick ‘USB debugging’

Also tick ‘Unknown sources’ under Menu –> Settings –> Applications

2) Download the latest version of FlashTool.

3) Extract the downloaded FlashTool file to a folder of your choice. Press ‘Parcourir’ to choose the folder then press ‘Extraire’ to extract the files.

4) Download the Xperia arc firmware from above.

5) Unzip the firmware to reveal the ‘FTF’ file. Place this file in the Flashtool/firmwares folder.

6) Open the ‘X10FlashTool’ application in the FlashTool folder. Click ‘Flash’.

7) You should now see the firmware selected as shown below. Click ‘OK’.

8 ) You will then see the screen below.

9) Turn your phone off. Whilst holding the back button on your handset, connect your phone via USB.

10) Follow the on-screen instructions to flash your phone to generic firmware. Once complete, your Xperia arc should now be unbranded.

Sony-Ericsson Xperia-Arc-crowned-best-mobile-phone

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc has shown itself to be the phone that finally knocks the HTC Desire off the perch of best mobile phone in the world.
TechRadar's ranking of the 20 best handsets is our definitive list, helping you work out which phone to pick up, and has had millions of views since its launch last year.
The HTC Desire has sat proudly atop that list since its launch last year, but now there's a new smartphone cowboy on the scene in the shape of the Xperia Arc.
It was an nigh-on impossible task to choose a winner, with all of the top 20 proving to be quality smartphones - and the HTC Desire S and Desire staging the mobile version of a Greek tragedy at numbers two and three below the Xperia Arc.

Yeah it is from T mobile, any ideas on how I get rid? Sometimes it's as much as 35% usage which seems mental.

You have two options.

1. Debrand the phone, I have put some instructions on the 1st page with the generic UK ROM from my handset.

2. Root the phone using gingerbreak.

I feel like I'm being completely retarded again but I'm trying to root my phone and I've tried about 20 times now to start it in fastboot mode and I cannot make it do it. Following the instructions and numerous youtube videos, phone is powered off, hold down the menu key (bottom right) and plug in the USB cable whilst still holding the key. How hard can it be?! I never get a blue light. I can get a green light if I do the same but with the back button but I've no idea what mode that is. Each time it just goes into charging mode.

Any ideas?

Menu Button = Blue / Fast Boot
Return Button = Green / SEUS Update / Flashing

If you have any problems let me know.

Mine came with a Screen Protector in the box!!... first thing I did was put it on!!

Mine did as well. :D

How is the battery performing after the update for everyone? I have read one report of it lasting up to 4 days after the update. Mines seems to average about 2 days now with medium / heavy use.

Hmmmm 1.86Ghz...... Its a bit more nippy. LOL

OTA update is out for the Xperia Arc. Just updated mine to the latest version. SE really have upped their game.

Aparently my phone is 'up to date' but still only on the 2.3.3 from last month!!..

Come on Vodafone!!.. Get yer finger out!! :(

Oh no.... Vodafone need to approve the update before it can be applied.

Id recommend re branding the handset to a generic firmware.
