I pledged $200. It entitles me (assuming the fund-raising is successful) to pick a celestial object to point the thing at for one photograph. If and when the time comes, I'll start a thread for ideas of what awesome thing to snap a photo of.

I was kind of tempted to pledge $200 too, but as a student it doesn't seem like the wisest idea :p Still, Hanny's Voorwerp is always interesting...

As you haven't commented I'm not sure what you think, however media and certain groups are not explaining this and getting knoickers in a twist, with certain places going, see we can't go to mars blah blah blah.

For a started it is not a lethal dose, infact it's not much higher. To put it in perspective, in comparison to smoking, smoking increases your risks of cancer 3 times more than a trip to mars. Or an a3% increase to a normal non smoking person, so the risk is still very very low. That's before we start talking about shielding either purpose built shielding, or orientations the spaceship (as its not just the capsuake which goes) so that the service module with water/fuel/supplies as well as its structure is facing the solar winds.
Just because capsules look the same size and similar shape, doesn't mean they are built like each other. A capsule for a rover is nothing like a capsule for a human, the design requirements are utterly different.
