*****The Official SSX Thread*****

I hate the oxygen runs you need to do loads of tricks to get tricky, then bomb it down the track as fast as possible, all the while burning your oxygen too

I found the oxygen one easiest lol? You just go down the mountain like normal, hold R1 when the screen goes black. The avalanche was a lot of fun also once you get used to the backwards controls. Whiteout is a pain, you have to learn that track or you just jump into nothing all the time lol.

Oh yeah it wasn't hard, it was just ****.

The avalanche was boring and just seemed to involve bouncing down a mountain.

Whiteout I like the mechanic but that track was poorly designed, basically the only way to get down it is to play it repeatedly until you've learnt every ravine.

Holy cow the final Death Zone race was hard as nails!

I agree about the Whiteout course being badly designed. They tell you to only go off marked jumps, and then when you do it dumps you straight down a hole!

But over all this is the best console game I have played since.... Well... SSX3! LOL!

I caved, bought the extra drop and Eddie pre order codes off eBay. Really fancied some epic Afro action :).

Shame that Sony have taken PSN down again so I can't activate them! Grr!

The big global event ends on serenity today. I'm hoping my score holds because I'm set to win 570,000 at the moment. I was hoping the players would hit 50k for the badge but I doubt it will as its only at 40k right now!

No idea how the guys at the top got 85 mill. I pushed hard to hit the 37 mill I got!

Not sure mate. I know you need 35 mill to get into my bracket. The platinum bracket. If your on 33m I think you will be in the gold bracket. Which still gives out around 300k. Try to push it up a few mill before it ends tonight :D

What is the key to trickit? I find myself comboing the entire course and only getting 10-12m. Is it better to do several combos due to the repeating trick thing when your run our of ubers to do?

The key to trickit is to get big air and do big moves. Spins are worth less than flips. What you ideally want to do is always aim for the misty (which is where you spin and flip in the same move. Achieved by using the diagonals when winding up or in the air)

Flips and spins alone are not worth much so obviously you add board grabs to them. Single input grabs such as just square or circle etc, are worth less than the 2 input grabs such as square-circle or square-triangle. And as long as you have the air you always want to tweak the grab using R2, this makes the move take longer to end so make sure you have enough time to finish it before landing so you don't wipe out.

Next is your multiplier. Each time you complete a trick your multiplier will go up by 1. You want to max this out as soon as possible so that all your tricks come in at x20. Fastest way to do this is to hit tricky, then hit a grind and spam the grind moves, you don't even have to hold them just alternate between them fast as you can to get up to x20.

You only repeat a trick if you do the same trick in a row twice. This is seriously detrimental to building you score so don't do it. (for e.g your signature move could land you 20,000 points, if you do it again straight away you will get 2,000!) So you can alternate between just 2 tricks that your comfortable with as long as you don't do the same one twice. Your biggest scoring move is your super uber signature move (L2 + R2 and any other button) you should get comfortable using this every other trick for the biggest points!

Keeping Tricky active from your first or second jump on a run is also very important. Once Tricky is activated you get your super uber moves which score more points, also allowing you to boost infinitely for bigger jumps and faster spins.

You should try to keep your combo throughout the entire run as well. My highest combo was well over 220. Each time you do a trick it adds to the combo points as well as your overall score. When you cash in the combo it multiplies it by the multiplier below your score. Cashing in multiple times is not beneficial as the higher the score from your combo the higher it will cash in when it multiplies by 20. (for e.g. if you build a combo worth 100,000 points and cash in at x20 you will score 2,000,000. If you build the combo score up to 2,000,000 and cash in at x20 you will get 40,000,000 added to your score!)

Hopes these tips help everyone. If you have any other questions I'll try my best to answer them!

Ah thanks for those, I didn't realise the duplicate trick only counted if it was straight afterwards. I assume your combo multiplier only increased if it was a new unique trick! Will give it another go :)

Sweet! so the first big global event ended. I finished in the Platinum on the trickit with 41mill and in the Gold for the race with about 3:40. Can't wait to get onto the new big global event. Shame the players didn't reach 50k for that badge. Lets hope this weeks manages it! Overall I netted about 900,000 in credits. Which is nothing once your level 10 and the equipment can cost 1mill + lol!

I really need to play this some more. The controls are doing my head in and the classic layout doesn't suit this game for some odd reason for me :(

Stuck in the pre order codes yesterday. Eddie is cool, but Fuji was a massive let down. It feels like a half finished mountain they dropped early on, and then just decided to add as pre order DLC. The massive smooth areas of nothing are annoying.

Eddie is good. I got mine from asda but called up a GAME store told them I didn't get the code and they gave me one over the phone so free DLC for me haha. Ain't tried out the new mountain yet. Working on getting Golds on all the Explore drops atm.

@REDD555 I started off with classic because that's what I was used to but it does not work very well with this game. The face buttons are easy as you only need x for jumping and 1 other button to combine it for a big trick. I just use x and o.
