***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

$400 million game in 2023 doesn't even have AUTO HDR support, let alone native HDR support. Then the stupid "they/them" pronoun selector, I have 30 minutes of game time left before I lose the ability to refund.

Let us know if you refund or not please.

New Vegas isn't a good example, it was and still is incredible when it came to it's choices, dialogue and RPG systems. Obsidian also only had 18 or so months to make it, this was a limitation put on them by Bethesda, that the game was in the state it was on release was a fantastic effort considering the scope of it.

But yeah, it was a mess to begin with!

I know and then they were screwed out of the bonus too! :(

But New Vegas had an orange tinge and Fallout 3 a green tinge. Starfield now has its own "tinge" to its world.

Classic Bethesda games studio!

The CPU to GPU utilisation I've noticed is all over the place, some parts GPU is always 99%, whilst other parts it does go haywire even though frame pacing and fps etc are all good.
Looking at your overlay shown on your screenshots, your GPU is not being fully utilised and the power draw is also low for your 4090 compared to what I get with mine. It looks CPU limited to me as I suggested earlier. Once the FPS get high enough, in certain places you'll be limited by the CPU and the GPU will not be fully utilised.

FPS look fine though and you say the frame pacing is good so why worry about it?

Looks like an enjoyable game, I was never caught up in it's hype but from the gamerax preview there's a ton of different stuff to do and playstyles to try out. I really want to try out the ship building and customisation feature.

I can see people are already complaining about the graphics, it looks good to me but before you judge to harshly just remember your getting worlds full of NPC's, shops, towns, cities all of which requires a lot of processing power. I've seen people recreate cities and maps from Skyrim and Oblivion in UE5 engine and while they always look impressive they are only empty voids of pretty buildings that you can't go into or interact with.

This reshade mod will sort out the washed look.

The recent System Shock remake looks a lot better IMHO at the higher resolutions and works for me in ultra-wide out of the box, far better game play too.

Beginning to wonder what all the hype was about now?

If you're referencing 21:9 ultrawide, then that works out of the box.

Didn't look that washed out in the trailers, and i don't get that, if you're changing the colour profile in the trailer video edits then you know the pallet is wrong, so just fix it....

Lack of HDR is a problem but I was literally just marvelling at the crisp high resolution textures in one of the moons and the bases at the early part of the game.

I was doing the side mission where you collect the air samples from the trees and the textures where genuinely awful.
