***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

They did hit a good run with the 12th gen though, even the 12900K is fairly excellent for power and thermals, with the rest of the 12th gens being even more so whilst being just percentage percentage the 12900K. Intel seem to have been fixated on giving the chips as much power as possible for every last MHz these days.

Because people on forums are obssessed with graphics, when most people who buy their games don't simply care as much as people think. An Indie game like Valheim looks terribad, but sold well over 10 million copies because it was fun. All the people on reddit and twitter who were going to boycott because it had no RT,no this or that, etc would not make a real difference. The same was said about Fallout 4 being crap on forums because it looked like jank, but it was a fun game at its heart and had one of the most mod friendly developers and dedicated fanbase of any game franchise. Skyrim looked dated at launch but was genuinely a great game to play and Fallout:New Vegas is still one of the greatest RPG games ever created.

Hogwarts Legacy sold 15 million copies and it didn't look or run that great either. But it is apparently fun to play.

Cyberpunk 2077 had masses of bugs, horrendous AI and significantly cut back RPG elements(compared to The Witcher 3),etc but got a pass by enthusiasts because it was very pretty and was fun to explore. Yet it still sold well. Everyone is excited about Phantom Liberty because they want to mess around with graphics settings. Nobody is asking whether the RPG elements are going to be of the standard of The Witcher 3.

Absolutely. The best games of the year so far have had limited RT, or even none at all and we’re not liked for their spectacular graphics. BG3 has not been critically acclaimed for advancing graphical fidelity in gaming. The people who like starfield are looking past the fact the graphics aren’t next gen but at best good, but like it because it is a great RPG at its heart. Or that the the GOTY 2022 was the decidedly average looking Elden Ring.

Amd seem to love having their sponsored games running better on their competitors hardware :p

Was expecting better scaling from the 3d cache cpus tbph. Definitely going back to intel next time.

Its doing what Fallout 4 does....scale with higher memory clockspeeds. In the Fallout 4 benchmark thread I run,you could see this too.It seems Creation 2 in Starfield is more of the same!

The 3D VCache is adding another 10% to 15% extra performance to the base CPU performance.

I had a lot of fun with Valheim and it definitely isn't a realistic looking game!

Oh and I just played a bit more of the game and noticed comical NPC bugs, and the vasco robot thing that stalks your every move also glitches out LMAO :D

What is vasco doing?

Then outside I watched an NPC do his best UFO tractor beam abduction rendition and float up to the glass roof:

And all NPC faces have no soul in their expressions, by comparison at least you can sense emotions and expressions on faces of NPCs on other games like Cyberpunk/Ratchet etc!

Some areas do look nice, although all of this lighting is static baked:

Did someone say $400 million the budget was for this? What the hell did they spend the money on, it certainly wasn't polishing a finished product :p

Even simple side missions like turning off those breakers feels so empty, the AI when you are being chased by the feds because you stole a biro off someone's desk is also highly basic :p

I agree, this game looks nothing special at all ... we can only hope it has some decent Gamplay fun as you go forward.

All this hype and its a damp squib ... Oh dear.

Their competitor is throwing a new significantly improved core in to the mix every 12 to 18 months, it seems they can't keep up so they keep upping the power envelope.

That started with Coffeelake which hung around for long enough to get silly, yes 12'th gen was a new core but that is again living beyond its competitiveness so the ramping up of power gets silly again, 14'th gen is +3% and some more power.

Zen 5 Q2 next year is another brand new core with big IPC and Mhz and power improvements, Zen 6 yet another new core with big improvements.

Bit surprised that all you lot who bought the game are more keen whinging here than playing the actual game. Doesn't seem like it's very gripping!
Gotta soak in the washed out colours one hour at a time ya see :p

Don't get me wrong, I will continue to play it, but it won't be my gaming priority that's for sure.

With a 3700x and a 2070s it looks like I'm not going to have a good time if I buy this game (1440p monitor) :(

Not having any trouble hitting 60 with a 3700x here. Glad I didn't punt (yet) for a 58003d over this game.

Though it does hit the highest utilization I've seen before. Very good core scaling (well, up to 8 at least).

If you are calling me woke, thank you so much for the compliment. I know I must be a decent person if intolerant people are getting upset with me.

Incidentally, they and them can also be used in the singular sense. I am 55 and was taught that from an early age.

Wrong. The use of "They/Them" in the game is NOT referencing a singular indefinite pronoun antecedent and you know it.

I don't understand those on either side taking this pronoun thing so seriously, the whole thing is basically like a 4Chan troll isn't it?
