That's what it is with Fallout 4, so correct.

Oh, ok, im not sure where ive gone wrong then lol i have done exactly like it states in the install instructions...pasted the data file in documents/mygames/starfield......then i created a txt document called StarfieldCustom.ini in the same place and pasted the 3 lines there.

Do you know what i have done wrong at all?

Thanks

Ahhhh i think ive cracked it lol ive just pasted the lines in the starfield perf.ini file that was already there, it had things like display etc already there with values.

Going to try it now lol

Nope, still dosnt seem to be working for me, does it matter if the lines are pasted at the top or bottom of the .ini file? as have display at the top and the archive ones for mod at the bottom

Should not matter where they are as the ini is called for its contents in whatever order.

Mine looks like this:

Didn't realise SSD is a minimum requirement. I usually install offline single player games on a big old 5900RPM/64MB HDD.
Gonna have to reinstall tomorrow I guess.

Ahh so you need the starfieldprefs.ini and a separate starfieldcustom.ini as well? thanks, will try now

The prefs file is created by the game, don't touch that, you create a new text file and name it the custom one, that's where the mod lines all go.

Thanks for your help, i think i have it working now, looks a little clearer in new atlantis although ive only tested in daylight quick.

Thanks again

He was moaning in another video he didn't get a review key like other uk reviewers. Most of the time when that happens he gets very negative and takes pot shots at other reviewers. He didn't even finish the game according to the comments(was under 20 hours over two characters) whereas all the other reviewers stated they put dozens of hours in. He even called The Witcher 3 an average game too and ended up deleting the video because all he got into a fight with the CDPR fans. He then harps on about it not being No Mans Sky when No Man's Sky has no Npcs or real story.

Tbh I've never seen something like that :))

At the first loading it shoots up to 700mbps + and even during gameplay I think it was where it used like 200mbps +, so yeah SSD needed definitely.

Good or bad it's his opinion. People are getting too defensive over the games they like.

Not really - because he made a whole video moaning he didn't get a review copy before he started playing it. I followed him for years, long before many here because he is funny. But when he gets no review copy he gets grumpy and then he gets in a huff like somehow the companies are hiding everything. But it was quite clear no UK reviewers got review copies. Some are implying Microsoft are being petty over UK regulators blocking that deal.

So I knew yesterday the review was going to be bad. He also tends to calls out other reviewers quite a bit.

He then goes on about No Man's Sky on how it's better but it isn't an RPG with hardly any RPG elements or real characters, but he moans that this isn't a good RPG.He basically played the game for a day. The other reviewers put in dozens of hours. Some stated as much as 100 hours. So at least some of their negative points actually come from giving the game a good look through.

He did the same with the Witcher 3 and dunked on it. Implied it was more an action adventure game for console players. Whereas I did agree with some aspects of the combat system being rubbish and made for consoles , and I prefer settings like in Mass Effect, The Witcher 3 is still a masterpiece of an RPG game. He ended up deleting the video after he got into a fight with the CDPR fans. That whole fight was entertaining in its own right!

He tends to calls out all the other reviewers who post a different opinion as him as being somehow swayed by the corporates.

So what your saying is. He's an idiot?

Never heard of him or that channel before, I make my own opinions on games, as for Star Field. It's an ok game, wouldn't really call it an exploration game as your extremely limited and the 1,000 planets thing well that's just a buzz word. More like a 1,000 slightly different, often barren zones to explore as you cannot actually explore an entire planet. Can't fly in the atmosphere either, same with space your limited to the immediate surroundings, you cannot just point your ship at a star and fly there even in the same system you have to fast travel/gravity drive jump between planets ie Earth to Mars.

Despite all of the above, I'm enjoying the campaign at least so I will finish that off and see what it's like after that.

I think he is entertaining as a reviewer and sometimes has some interesting insights. But at the same time it was more obvious this was going to be more in scope like an expanded The Outer Worlds from Obsidian Entertainment or even the Mass Effect games from Bioware. Obsidian did Fallout:New Vegas. Those games have the same type of setup. Even New Vegas had quite a small map too, and there were loading screens too.

Not No Man's Sky 2 which I suspect some thought it was going to be. But the issue is that NMS is not an RPG and has no proper NPCs. Remember, Fallout 76 was a disaster when it went for a huge map and no NPCs. Great map if you wanted to just explore by yourself but it felt empty.

Haterz Gonna Hate.
Personally had 20 hours of fun so far and barely touched the main quest at all.

Not quite skyrim, but It's better than the fallout series

I still never made an outpost apart from planting the beacon and didn't really upgrade my ship at all just opened the menu for it.

it's crazy how expensive buying a better ship or making your own seems, I'm guessing theres easy ways to make money I didn't really find yet other than selling guns and armor though

Until ive got hands on I'm taking all the reviews of this game with a pinch of salt. Every Youtuber will know they will get tens of thousands of views on their vids purely cos most wont spend nearly £100 to play it a few days earlier.

That been said, after watching worth a buy's review, I found it pretty eye opening that is it just a fast travel simulator, but tell me a game which isnt now? Ive come to expect all AAA games with a "open world" is just fast travel spam, Go some place once and then never have to travel there again. It's a bit heart breaking really, i would have loved them to actually make a game where you had at least get back to your ship to enable the fast travel, or just in orbit maybe.

Something he did mention that ive not seen other talk about is the Perk system, fallout, elder scrolls, Witcher etc if you didnt have the mastery or right amount of exp in a game system eg lockpicking, computing you can still go ahead and give it ago, maybe use up all your chances / picks in the process but never locked you out, I think they've made a big mistake here with immersion, it felt good been able to do something right out of the gate with zero skill or time into it and you got past a mastery mini game, it felt like massive progress. Just putting a lvl on things and not able to give it ago is lazy design and removes all rpg element in my eyes.
And it looks like its the same with every perk / system in the game.

All in all im glad i havnt paid full price for this, and also didnt buy into the early access, i'll be playing on game pass till the modders do bethesda's job for them and in a year pick it up for £20 and then be happy.

Level 10 now and and exploring NA. The game is huge and I barely scratched the surface.

I see now what people are saying about graphics. One minute it looks awesome, next minute it looks like a PS3 game

But ya know, ultimately who cares when one is having so much fun? Well worth my £40 :D

Based on what I have seen this will easily be my GOTY. As much as I enjoyed Cyberpunk 2077, I don't think I will quite get this much fun replaying that with the new expansion. But we will see I guess.
