***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

Finally got to start the game this evening. Super happy with it running a constant 60fps at 1080p high native, only thing I turned down to medium were shadows as I'm not fussed about them. Weirdly I had to turn off AMD sharpening in the AMD suite as it made the game all fuzzy.

This game is going to epic for me. Just wish I had more time to play!

Installed the Neutral thingy mod, tbh I can't remember what the game looked like before now so not sure I am appreciating it. Not done the HDR mod, looked a right faff.

Well it's taken a while but after a rocky start it's got it's hooks into me. Thoroughly enjoying it now and have been at it most of the day.

Still not keen on the planetary exploration bits but seems to be entirely optional anyway. Just lots of running about scanning stuff for not much reward in my experience so far. Found the odd side mission but they've been pretty standard affairs.

I've had to reign in my usual "loot everything" approach as there's so much crap around, mostly worth next to nothing, that it's too time consuming. I just loot bodies and chests now pretty much as there's plenty money to be made anyway.

Keep in mind that scanning even a barren planet nets XP equivalent to early quests and credits. Haven’t done any inhabited planets yet, far too much of a faff.

Same, I started grabbing some of the higher value junk early on, but then realised just looting corpses provides everything you need to sell. Although I’ve probably missed some collectibles this way. I’ve got more money than I know what to do with at the moment.

The UC faction quests have been excellent so far.

Inside the bar on The Key, what sort of fps are people getting? This seems to be an area in an indoors environment that hits the hardware hard for some reason, anywhere in the bar it's around 76fps, leaving the bar results in things returning to over 100fps.

I'm also doing the UC quests and they have indeed been very good. I much prefer questing to planetary stuff, I'm finding that a bit boring and feel like I'm getting more xp this way. Far more engaging for me anyway, but each to their own with this kind of game.

Been some excellent side missions too, especially the Mantis mission. Well worth doing that one.

I've quickly realised that hoarding loot to sell is not a productive use of time in this game. I just retain ammo and med kits etc, also any high level/interesting weapons/armour loot to sift through for my own use. The money you can gather from side missions far surpasses what you can gather from loot by orders of magnitude. I gained over 30000cr from the last side mission by black mailing the guy that sent me on the mission in the first place.

Yeah. Not bothering collecting random stuff like tools, suculents etc going forward.

I have been upgrading weights, on 4th level now and next one I think gets you to 100kg extra carry capacity. Also done lasers and medicine and security.

HDR mod is easier than Neutral mod dude.. You download, launch, type in Starfield.exe or its location. That's it!

So which one is supposed to give blacks because if it's the neutral one then I am not seeing it (or I am in wrong area).

Also I dont get the instructions it says to add this to custom ini:
[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=

But that bottom line has no value so why are we adding it?

Well, unless MSI Afterburner acts up, I'm not limited by the CPU on a 4080 and 5800x3d (not yet anyway).

Not that great looking, but running around 60fps or under in New Atlantis :)) On a freaking 4080, 1080p native
Just wow. Only thing running worse (but better with FG), is CB with PT, but at least that one looks better.

Fingers crossed is just nVIDIA's driver acting up. Going full power the GPU should draw around 300W, but is only 200W there now.

That was satisfying, just spent about 2 hours modifying and rebuilding my starter ship. Swapping all the parts, painting it and trying to find out how to assign weapons was fun lol! They really need to fix that part, it wasn't intuitive to find!

I seem to have lost my ship, entered one of the prison shuttle ships and went off doing missions and now I have a ship that has no guns and can only warp drive to new destinations. What is me to do?!

Best ask Saul @Nexus18 :)

All I know is the HDR had a huge impact.

I spent ages on the surface on Atlantis looking for shops, not realising all the good shops were in the Well! There's a armor and weapons workbench down there too!

Cheers. Will save me some time :)

I am level 9 now, but done for the day. Will be back on it as soon as I wake up though

With one of the DLSS mods ( the one that only works with DLSS 2 ) im getting almost constant 60fps and above now in Atlantis with my 4070 @1440p, resolution scaling is at 70 as thats where you have to change it for the mod.

Know its not true 1440p but still looks great and plays much smoother now, was getting the odd dip into the 40s before lol

OMG I just realised why the FOV didn't change either. I got it saved as StarfieldCustom.ini.txt

I was going to suggest if you did that but thought surely not...

I just copy pasted another .ini file, renamed it and copy pasted over the stuff inside. Easy peasy :)

I'm sorry I'm not the man you want me to be :(
Ooooh I am on the moon and it's actually dark under my ship! What a difference.
