***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

watching that latest video, i'm far less excited for this game than i thought i'd be. i keep telling myself that it's clearly far bigger than NMS with far more to do, which for what it was worth, NMS was a fun game for about 2/3 weeks of gaming, however I'm a little bored watching that video, and concerned how copy and paste things will feel. you'll see the limited rules that has been created for these procedural events, and for all the events and content they have, the universe will feel too empty.

i'd rather with these space games that they make 10-15 really great planets, over making 50 million, and you'll only ever see 10 of them, which now arne't that good.

the fighting just looked so soft, lacking impact, numbers game.

the faces look so obviously bethesda style and probably the lowest quality part of the game, based on that gameplay video.

i need to sleep on it for a whilte and consider maybe i'm still excited, just disappointed from the video :p

Looks ok like Fallout 4 in Space LOL

After all that development time expected a bit more really its just very similar to other existing games but way more of it & Game Pass launch title so many PC Gamers will get it regardless....DLC is I guess where the $$$ will be recouped...pay to speed up gameplay progress style DLC....
Was thinking the same thing the combat looks identical to FO76 add in some space travel and thats it ship building looks remarkably similar to base building

Looks like a reskin of their previous games, could have been epic but doesn’t appear to be much effort or originality gone into it. Hopefully I’m wrong and it gets rave reviews.

Parts of it look interesting, the combat looks like a standard Bethesda jank fest though.

It does.. the ship building, environment etc - looks amazing, but the gunplay looks terrible,

It's so hard to judge games based on trailers from AAA studios these days.. The glossy amazing productions they put out in trailers, don't often reflect a whole bunch of NPCs "t-posing" and glitching around the place...

But I want it to be good... I really want this to be good..

Looks like your standard amalgamation of the usual space game gameplay loops with the Bethesda RPG aspect on top. All good stuff if it all goes together cohesively.

I hope there's more to the galaxy than what we've seen though. I assume there's some alien and mystery story to unfold and discover, otherwise it may get rather boring.

I'm looking forward to playing it now. I did get strong MassEffect vibes from the main alien quest. You touch an artefact that changes you...

Expanded customisation options for the ship and weapons looked good. The Outposts being snapfit models must be so much easier for them to deal with vs us placing things anywhere (looking at you wall sections) and joining them. As others have said, it'll be very similar to previous games. Even one of the random quests they showed was the classic, "please help us farmers with a critter problem". :D

I feel I know exactly what I'm going to get from the game.

Exactly this, it put me off Fallout 4 initially, only mods saved it. I'm all for the gameplay, but when the characters look this bad for a triple AAA game in 2023?? Come on!
I hope they don't lock mods away behind paywalls etc, it's the only thing that keeps these games going.

I really hope this game doesn't fall flat, been looking for something in this genre since i finished Mass effect series and Elite Dangerous. Nothing has come close to those yet.

Haven't watched the full Spacerim deep-dive video yet, but the jetpack combat seems annoying.
Bleurgh.... I'm not interested in being a Mandalorian, nor in revisiting Mass Effect Andromeda.

I do wish this was a multiplayer MMO, it kinda sucks that its single player.

It does.

I mean full-blown PVP in a game like that, can go and do one..

But having a no-mans sky style exploration with friends, where you can all share a base, and in this case - all be mooching about inside your own spaceship, I don't want to do that with NPCs, I want my friends in coop.

Especially with how customisable it look, in terms of making your own ships - I want to be able to share all of that with mates in real time in the game.

Or at least the ability to switch it from SP, to COOP - it being locked to SP is a bit of a fail tbh..
