***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

Pure projection due to inadequacies in their own life. Textbook example, funnily enough the people enjoying things aren't trying hard to put others down and tell everyone else how great they are doing.
Unless they own an AMD gpu and are trying to justify why not having DLSS is better and how they're not bothered about RT - and this coming from me who likes/uses amd products hahaha!

Anyone else noticed their frame rate drops when they turn the scanner on in space?

Edit: actually it might be an illusion, maybe caused by fsr as it seems to be the icons and writing that seem blurry or low FPS.

Edit 2 nope, nothing to do with fsr. It just seems like the scanner UI is running at a lower FPS than the game!

So it's seems some parts like the spaceship UI and the skills points menu are capped at 30fps...

Did they really just forget to remove the 30fps cap from some elements when porting from Xbox....?

If I feel like a new game to play Steam has a store page that I can filter for the types of games I like. RPG, single player etc, read the game concept, then maybe look at some screenshots and watch a few gameplay videos.
So you consult markerting material, I don't need to say more than that. The gameplay video thing, there are benefit and drawbacks and what they provide vs reviews, but that is a discussion for a proper thread on the usefulness of reviews as there is so much to discuss explore there.

The steam user reviews, mainstream media and especially YouTube reviewers are the last place I would use as a guide.
Okay, you are saying what you've said before but then immediately contradict yourself.

I may also see a game thread like this in a tech forum and think, I’ll check that out.
A game thread is just full of reviews, it is no different to steam reviews. You've just spent how many posts telling me that reviews are useless. Now you say this.

I think the real issue here is that you don't like professional reviewers.

I've put about 2 hours into this game so far. Not much I know, but it's really not gripping me, not any where close to a game like skyrim did (though I try to remember I was much younger and freer at the time), but also both most recent zelda games.

Is there a point that others can say "this is where it gets exciting" that I need to push to and decide after that how I feel?

If you aren’t getting into it by now refund (if possible) and revisit during a sale.

Just found one of these from a legendary pirate in a research station, not seen it before:

Anyone tried this?

I've tried special k there (since it has all them tweaks already done) as supposedly it is much better than the auto hdr fix/mod but game just crashes on startup when using special k. Seems like it may be down to a conflict between special k and dlss? If so, cba with the faff of doing them fixes.

One thing I've noticed using DLSS is that the weapons seem to 'twitch', there are various parts of it constantly moving, doesn't happen with it off.

Also lol at BG3 being close to a perfect game, waaaaay too many bugs for that.

So what are you doing mainly in the game? Walking around doing stuff? Sounds like the space bit is underwhelming which sounds disappointing. What’s wrong with the space combat and is this a big part of the game? Are people using a joystick?

It's a bit of a slow burner at the start.

For me, it really picks up after about 10-15 hours in.

I don’t enter this thread, or other game threads thinking I’ll read user reviews.
You don't??? You really don't expect to come into a thread after the game is released and see people discussing what they like, what they don't like. Aspects that worked or didn't. Literally people giving their opinions (a review) on a game. It's what I expect to see when ever I enter a thread about video games or movies.

Admittedly, there are other discussion in the thread such as where are people in the game, what are they stuck on, tips on how to progress etc.. but that stuff is irrelevant to anyone who doesn't own the game and would be looking to purchase it.

Also filtering by type on steam does not mean I need to read user reviews as well.
I never said that.

That’s you applying your failed logic and thinking somehow game threads and marketing material equals reviews.
This is a strawman.

What I said was that you consult markerting material I never said they equal reviews

I said that game threads are full of reviews. Which I have clarified above

What’s more ironic is the people who read the 9/10 reviews like you have advocated
Another Strawman.

What I have so far advocated for, is that reviews are not useless.

The irony of this statement, is that I dislike the whole scoring aspect of reviews.

Yet you called me brain dead. El oh the **** el.
lets see what I actually said

The idea that people shouldn’t watch reviews to determine if they should invest their money and time into a game is a brain dead take. Only trotted out when people don’t like hearing bad thing about a game they like.

The fact that you made such a brain dead take while simultaneously giving a review is just the cherry on top of this **** sandwich and shows you weren’t even thinking about what you wrote.

I called your take (on the situation A.K.A your opinion) brain dead. This was reinforced by the fact that, without even the smallest hint of sarcasm you where literally giving your own review on the game, while simultaneously ******** on people who think reviews are useful.

I've just seen the mods have deleted your posts. But this is already typed up, so the mod can make do with my response as they see fit.
