I am a little concerned about locations outside of curated spaces just being low quality procedural experiences.
Yup this is by far my biggest concern for the game also.

Does look module based from the videos, but I'm ok with that, Subnautica base building was module based but was able to make some great looking bases all the same. How much the interior can be customised is the bigger question for me.The outposts looked very cookie cutter to me, it was clear there was set modules that snapped into place. And I expect far fewer layouts than the ship sections. I don't think it'll be anywhere near as good as Fallout4's base building. I sent countless hours building walls and buildings in FO4 and don't see any of that in the gameplay we've seen so far.

Damm either I'm a stubborn git when it comes to video games or your taste in games is much lower than me! Basically I'm hard pleased by many new and up and coming video games.
I play just about every genre out there, except for "beat em ups". Been gaming for over 40 years and through that time I've gained a lot of tolerance for things that give younger gamers cause to throw their toys out of the pram and have tantrumsDamm either I'm a stubborn git when it comes to video games or your taste in games is much lower than me! Wow. Then star citizen is right up your street!I play just about every genre out there, except for "beat em ups". Been gaming for over 40 years and through that time I've gained a lot of tolerance for things that give younger gamers cause to throw their toys out of the pram and have tantrums
I also find lots of "smaller" titles which are so good that I get hundreds and hundreds of hours of play out of them that many other gamers probably never even cast a second eye over, games like Medieval Dynasty, Dinkum and GTFO. On top of that, I almost never play games solo, my other half is as much (if not more) of a gamer as I am, plus we've got friends who we've gamed with for decades and of course games are always more fun with friends. All of that means that I'm able to accept the occassional parts of games which might not be 100% brilliantly done and still see the good in a title.
I actually find some of the things that some players get their knickers in a twist over, rather comical.
I do actually have Star Citizen, I got the cheapest version of it like 10 years ago. I've never bought any ships for it though and havent logged into it for a long time, last time I did it felt more like a tech demo than an actual game, but at least I have it if it ever releases properly at "1.0"Wow. Then star citizen is right up your street!
Play that with your missus and mates!
Fully crewed carrack!
I been gaming for 30 years but over time, my expectations for games has changed.
I also wouldn't have time to play even half of the games you mentioned.
I tend to have one or two time synced games like a rpg or some mmo ish game and then one pick up and play game ( I switch between cod and fifa) and that's about it.
I'm struggling right now to complete zelda and diablo as I keep going back to star citizen when my mates comes on it.
I love a game with building mechanics, having grown up with things like Meccano and Lego, I see it as just a modern form of thoseIf I could go the whole game without building anything I would be happy.
I just don't see the appeal to be honest. Never have.
Totally get where @jonneymendoza is at. I have purposely avoided games in the past because I get the sunk cost fallacy and feel like I am falling behind, so had brief spells with Destiny, Division2, basically live service multiplayer games.
To fully invest in a SP game I can't really have others going on, hence at the moment I only have Diablo installed and Dawn of War 2, can't do it with a story heavy game. It is also why I have found enjoyment in a lot of shorter indie titles or ones where you can easily dip in and out. What happens is I start a game with a story etc, get distracted by said live game/mmo, come back to SP game, forgot story, feel like I need to restart, restart, get bored as replaying same stuff. It is exactly what happened with Witcher 3.
So I went back and relistened to Todd Howard on the Lex Fridman podcast. The issue with low quality procedual environments is something Todd had considered. From what I gathered, rather than go the full procedual route, they have a number (probably a very large number) of premade environmental tiles. My understanding is these tiles are just sections of a map that you would find in any game. They then have an algorithm that they use to stitch these tiles together to create the different planets. So it's partially procedually generated at the development end, which is how they generated the 100 systems. But it seems that the planets are fixed on the user end. So if you visited planet X-175 in system 49 and I visited it, we should have an identical experience.Yup this is by far my biggest concern for the game also.
