***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

I think I know that ship

I only just found the zero-g casino - that was fun ;)

I have heard about the casino, that's one I am definitely going to try!

As you level, you stand a good chance of knocking out enemy ship's gravity with EM weapons and/or critical hits during ship capture.

The large 3 floor enemy ships with 20+ crew, playing on very hard difficulty in zero-g are great fun to try and capture. Even at level 100 with some serious Epics, I still die periodically.

I would say 50% of my ship captures are in zero-g.

So getting weird now , I’ve just met Ada Lovelace ,Genghis Kahn, Franklin Roosevelt and Amanirenas - and except for Ada I killed them all !

Not met any of those yet despite rapidly approaching NG+10

Enjoy the no awards eh :p
OK, I'll bite... :p

Looking through the awards categories, the only one Starfield was nominated for was best RPG - which I think is fair although (of course) it's in competition with Baldur's Gate 3 which is likely going to sweep all the awards it's nominated for.

Would I have nominated it for anything else? I think the music is good (and fitting) but it's unfocussed and not as memorable/impactful as Jeremy Soule's work on Skyrim so no nomination there.

I like the voice acting of some of Starfield's characters but the lack of a strong through-narrative and the loose structure of the game makes it hard to put in an award-winning performance. Elias Toufexis is a great voice actor, but Starfield doesn't have a Deus Ex-quality script.

Starfield (nor any Bethesda game) was never going to win a technical achievement award - so moving on :D

Best game? Starfield's my personal GOTY but there's some strong contenders there - should a sequel (Spider-Man 2/Tears of the Kingdom) get a nomination? Should a remake (Resident Evil 4)? Should *another* 2D Super Mario game? They're all good games though and near universally praised so I get why they're there.

I think the Starfield Game Awards 'controversy' is nonsense - what *is* interesting is that the actual best-selling game of the year (Hogwart's Legacy) got *zero* nominations *and* a game made by a billion-dollar corporation (Dave the Diver) is up for an 'indie' award when the acclaimed Octopath Traveller II (a genuine indie game) has been completely snubbed

Who cares about gaming awards anyway.
Obsessed XBox and Playstation fans :D

I think a lot of XBox fans are upset that Microsoft having Starfield as an exclusive hasn't really shifted the needle in terms of the XBox consoles' position in the marketplace (i.e. they're still 3rd and will remain so for the rest of this console generation). Even if Starfield was a 10/10 game though, it's just *one* game - XBox has just continually fumbled the ball this gen and were I an XBox owner, I'd probably be pretty unhappy too.

I also think the acquisition of Bethesda has been a double-edged sword - I think Starfield benefitted from the delay in terms of ironing out bugs but I think it also suffered from being forced to run on the Series S (I'm sure that's what caused the egregious loading). I also suspect the terrible skill tree was a result of last-minute tuning to try and make this a 'Game Pass' game that would retain subscribers.

I do think ES6 will be *worse* since it being a GaaS/Game Pass game will be baked into it from the outset rather than being bolted on at the end as with Starfield (hence why I've said previously in this thread that I think Starfield will be the last 'real' Bethesda game).
