***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

£50 in 1989 would £159 in todays monies. Games are generally £60 so they would need to almost triple in price to be at similar cost to what they did back then.

Even if you took that N64 games were around £50 still in 1996 then that would be £120 today. I don't get why people suddenly think that the price of games at £60-£70 is ridiculous compared to the £40-£50 it was for all consoles 3 decades ago.

Playstation games were closer to £40 back then. In 1994 that means they would be £100 now standard. So yeah they just are not as expensive as people think.

No they wont, not even close. Skyrim to date is 30 million copies. And that outsold everything else by at least 3x their other traditional games. So lets say 10 million copies in first 6 months at full price (this assumes those on xbox gamepass means Microsoft gives the same full price cost to their studio less the 30% when they assign the figures). That is £600 million in that period. 30% from other costs taken

Starfield is looking to be over £200 million in development. Then at least another £100 million in marketing and support there after etc. You are talking about possibly making £100 million over an 8yr investment. For a company of 500 direct employees, that is only £12.5 million a year. This generally doesn't include wider scale company costs tbh either. So you are maybe looking at half that as profit.
Theres the difference in scale back in teh 80's game development was basically a hobbyist activity games were written by people in their back rooms on their home computers the original Elite was written by a couple graduates in their spare time its in complete contrast to todays dedicated studios with hundreds of employees working on a project for years there are small startups and independents but they're not on same scale or in the same league as the big studios

If it doesn’t run well at 4K on a 4090 I’m gonna be p***ed.

Not sure whether to buy this or just play it via GamePass, still undecided.
Gamepass is difficult to mod though you won't get the equivalent to SKSE/F4SE at all the DRM is locked down too hard even regular mods are a faff you have to launch the game first and quit that lets the mod manager know the game actually exists then deploy mods and you have to go through this every time

Far more interested in the stealth mechanic. ;)

Crouching in front of a npc for them to lose sight of you completely. Never gets old.
Is not made by Bethesda, but using the same mechanics is still funny: Fallout NV, high (max perhaps) stealth level and I sit slavic style on the small upper side of a couch, in an fairly lit room, being invisible to the guy walking in front of me. These type of RPG mechanics in action RPG games kill everything and yet they're very popular since is very easy (relatively) to do. I think this will live on since they haven't shown anything new. Sad, really, really sad.

September 1st, so what is happening in a couple of days that is going to set the thread on fire @TNA?

August 31st if the time zone switch works:

Here are the launch times for different timezones.

  • 9pm Aug 31st – Pacific Daylight Time (PDT)
  • 12am Sept 1st – Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)
  • 5am Sept 1st – British Summer Time (BST)
  • 2pm Sept 1st – Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST)

That said, at least if it doesn’t we won’t have to wait until 5/6pm on the Friday.

Did I actually get anyone? Anyone got happy for a split second? Because for a moment I did :o:cry:

Thought September was next month. Not sure why as I got another holiday booked for August which we were talking about earlier with the missus. Then suddenly I thought were in August already and September was around the corner
