When will you lot learn not to pre-order. I can't wait for all the Todd memes!

I keep hearing this meme/complaint yet the past few pre-ordered games I purchased have been perfectly good. You do know you can get a refund on pre-orders once you try the game? Well as long as you but from official sellers such as Steam.

Elden Ring and Jedi Survivor were much maligned for poor performance issues on release. Yet for me the were perfectly fine and playable with no game breaking bugs.

BG3 I preordered over a year ago and played the early access. No regrets at all here.

The only game I regretted purchasing recently was the utterly terrible Daiblo IV but I was able to get a refund.

I have it on Game Pass and already preloaded but i might end up with a standalone copy of it myself as i'm probably going to buy a new GPU soon.
If you buy a digital copy you can play it on both Xbox and PC. No need to buy it twice. That's what I'm doing ... have it pre-installed on both platforms in anticipation of early access launch on 1st September.

Other than I generally avoid subscription services, one reason putting me of getting it on GP was that some games don't work with mods because of how they are installed on GP. Had this issue with a couple.

Yep, that’s why I paid up for a Steam key.

That and hopefully my son can play it via library sharing, though that still remains to be seen as to whether it’s a shareable game or not.

I rarely mod games as usually too much faff and just breaks stuff, but I at least want the option.

They have moved away from the locked down UWP system now and had no issues applying mods to gp games.

That's good at least. It was far too hidden originally. I assume it now installs into a normal folder and they've ditched the extra security steps completely?

I tried to copy over the Doom Eternal files from GP so that my son didn’t have to download the whole thing again a couple of months ago but it was a no go, had to re-download the lot unfortunately.

Not sure why MS do that with GP but if that’s recently changed then it can only be a good thing.

So what are people thinking the review scores will be for this? Surprisingly poor, roundly 9-10, or somewhere in between?
7 to 8. There will always be a gripe. The combat system will get grilled and the lack of manual landing your spaceship may well get slated.

I personally think I will enjoy this game, it's got more than the fallout series and if they do for like starfield then I will probably love that too.

I think anywhere 7.5-8.5, I think from a ‘next gen’ tech perspective it’ll take a hammering for lots of loading screens, limited exploration areas, poor space travel and transitions, old gameplay style gunplay, slow burn etc. I’ll be keeping out of the arguments that ensue and will enjoy playing it.
