***The Official Starfield Thread*** (As endorsed by TNA)

I will be waiting until standard release on this one, so that I can read/watch some feedback from the 1st Sept starters to see what sort of condition the game is in first.

I think I need to watch some reviews before deciding what to do. If the game looks good enough I might just get it from the game pass. Also I'm in no rush to play this knowing how buggy previous Bethesda releases have been.

Not bait, just wondering, how come you take this approach but jumped right in with BG3 which has a terrible 3rd act, and plenty of bugs in the previous ones too?

Same, I will however leave the box on to get updates so it's hopefully all good to go when I wake up.

Ah who am I kidding, I'll be up at 1 to kick it all in and go through the character creator at least :D

Bethesda games are one of the few where I don't spend much time in it at all because I play first person so only ever see it in cutscenes sometimes.

Simples really, previous experience of the companies involved. With Larian, I loved Divinity Original Sin 1 and Divinity Original Sin 2 and had no issues with the early half of either of their titles, so I knew that at least the first 50-75% of the game would be in a healthy state and that Larian quite quickly patched up the later sections of DoS1 and DoS2 so I figured that if BG3 had similar issues Larian would repeat their previous form and quite quickly patch it up.

Bethesda, I also loved their previous titles, however I did have quite a lot of issues early on with their titles (as opposed to later sections with Larians games), Bethesda also patched their issues up (some issues were fixed by mods rather than Bethesda), however they were a bit slower in doing so than Larian.

But the tldr was that in my previous experiences, Larians had strong early parts and the main issues were later on and often fixed before I encountered them, whereas Bethesda issues were often right from the get go and thus unavoidable early on.

I should also add that price is also a factor, I can pay to play on the 1st (and possibly encounter issues) or I can pay nothing and play on the 6th on gamepass. So it makes sense financially to simply wait and see what people say between the 1st and 6th, rather than pay money for the game and take the risk.

Picked up the premium edition upgrade last night and patch downloaded, so all ready to go for Friday morning.

Also have my basket full with a 6950XT, HDMI cable, controller and adapter ready just in case 30fps proves frustrating on XSX and I need to move back to my PC on Saturday.

Teaching to suck eggs here but if you haven't already, update your GPU drivers, I know NVIDIA had a Starfield something or other mentioned in latest ones. Just seen new mobo drivers out too, could be fatal but here we go.
