It is frustrating, if the released the keys today they would actually get more people supporting them but if they are late then it's another AMD fail to add to the list.

Exactly. I don't get AMD, it is like they are masochists over there. Get the ******* keys out already...

Peasant broadband here out in the sticks.

Everyone out today so thought I’d kick off the preload as it’s going to take days and days to download, preferably when no-one else is using our meagre broadband too.

Got home only to find out there had been a power cut 20 mins after we left this morning.

TF I didn’t order the Premium edition as I’ve barely made a dent in the download yet and can’t carry on downloading it until everyone goes to bed tonight.

Rural problems!

Download ≠ size on disk - these things are compressed on Steam's end to reduce the bandwidth and server storage requirements. Pre-loads are also encrypted so it'll have to de-crypt it once the game's live.

BTW, if anyone's planning on having this installed locally on multiple PCs, make sure you have Steam's 'Game File Transfer over Local Network' enabled - it's great for grabbing all the install files from another PC on your LAN.

Do you know if it's possible to copy and transfer the install files to another computer by USB? It's the same account, just different PCs.

Yep, wait until it’s decompressed and working though. You’ll also need to copy a file from the Commonapps folder too, the one that points to the Starfield Steam URL, can’t think what it’s called off of the top of my head but a quick Google will tell you.

Thanks. I tried using powershell to find the largest files on my system but it's not showing the Starfield download file for obvious reasons.

Does the game file transfer over the network feature work for the preload or is it only for installed games?

Installed only I’d imagine as the preload files are encrypted.
