*** The Official Steam Deck Thread ***

Crikey, I received my notification yesterday for the 512. I ordered 24 hours after release and wasn't expecting for another few weeks; so this was a shock!

Ordered and went through fine.

In hindsight, I think 256 would've been the sweet spot, too late now as paying for my decision from 12 months back!

I am looking forward to receiving and cannot wait to try a few games, albeit, not really interested in latest games. The experimentation really appeals, trying to find those games that really work well for the unit.

If this can play a proper driving sim half decently, I will be a happy camper, as this has been on the wish list since owning an original Gameboy!

What wireless mouse are people using with the Deck? something without a dongle.

I'll likely be using a Logitech MX Anywhere 2 as I use that for most of my portable stuff and has both dongle and BT modes. I see there's a 3 now with USB-C, so would probably be the preferred option if found cheap enough (I got the 2 for £25 on a sale).

Actually I just ordered the Razer Deathadder v2, it’s £35 at the moment. Has Bluetooth and wifi, uses AA so no battery wear or at least replaceable and works with Mac as well. Tried a wired version in store and it felt nice enough. Won’t be playing competitive FPS so doesn’t matter on the cutting edge responsiveness.

The MX Anywhere 3 seems to cost a bit more.

Just laid out the remaining balance for the 512... That extra £100 odd quid (over the 256) could have been useful to spend on pimping it up with a skin, dock and screen protector. Although, am I mad that I am considering just running it naked and not caring?
I am not planning on buying a screen protector, as long as it has a case.

It looks quite a behemoth, hardly envisage throwing it in a bag like a phone. If you drop it, I don't think just the screen will go...

This thread is 92 pages long and mostly about waiting or delivery, hardly any pictures of games in action or hands-on experiences with various games. :(

If mine turns up this week will post experiences.

I find desktop mode quite sluggish to launch a game, actually I have one which isn't Verified works perfectly in the game OS mode but in Desktop mode it doesn't work as well, slower.

So far I've only been using it plugged into my TV with mouse and keyboard (in game OS mode)

Really want a bluetooth mouse but there doesn't seem to be that many about tbh. Lots of wireless options though.

Just picked it up and got home and connnected it to the Deck.

Comes with 1 single AA Energizer, turned on to Bluetooth, leaving the 2.4Ghz dongle inside the mouse. Connects to the Deck straight away under Bluetoth setting.

Comfortable, very light and very nice pads feet. Quality mouse for £35 they are going for now.
