Anyone tried the replacement screen mod yet? Ifixit sells the anti glare replacement screen that comes on the 512gb version and a full fitting kit to help you replace the screen for $100, it's quite tempting lol. Or just buy a anti glare screen protector....

Part of my reasoning for not getting the 512G are:-

1 - I have a habit of putting on a screen protector on my gadgets, my Switch, my phone, my cameras

2 - cheaper to get a 1TB SD than an extra 256G

I also find glossy screen look better than matt screens.

I think an anti glare screen protector is probably the way to go.

Chucked trackmania (the "new" stadium one) on deck and loving that too. Just need to follow the reddit post on how to launch directly from steam rather than ubisoft connect for a bit more ease!

Went for 512gb and not sure on getting screen protector or not...

This is the smart thinking in my opinion. My stepson's 256Gb arrived a few days ago and honestly the smart money seems to be a 64Gb, glossy screen and the ability to put a protector on. Or, given that replacement screens are now available, not bother with the protector at all.

I feel like people were a little afraid of the sd card option when they were first launched so a lot of people avoided the 64gb model. Which valve were probably quite happy about :P . But thinking about it most of the bigger flashier games that work great on the steam deck were designed to run off the ps4 and xbox one hdds, which are pretty slow and terrible, so not all that surprising that a good sd card can keep up

i got the 512gb as at the time, no one knew that the micro sd card speeds where almost identical to the ssd!!

Think you've pretty much hit the nail on the head here. Was trying DiRT 5 last night. Ultra low quality, native res, 40fps and ran smooth as silk, reduced the power to something that would give me a bit more juice. As much as I care about graphics quality on my gaming PC (2080ti, 3440x1440) I....just don't care for the Deck. As long as I can run it at 40 or 60, I'm game!

Yep, wish I'd gone for the 256GB one now, but then here we are a year later, now coming to that conclusion, and I even mulled over it for a day. Ah well.

The 256gb is a great choice, glad i did :p.

Finally decked out my deck, anti glare screen protector, skin, protective cover when i need to take it on holiday with me, USB C hub and a stand though i am now abit disappointed with the stand as i thought initially the USB C plug had data pass through as well but it seems it doesn't! Got a mate to 3D print me a stand which incorporates the Anker 341 hub into it so should work a lot better than what i have now.

Does your hub do 1 cable to monitor and charge at the same time?

I found out my dongle I use for my MBP doesn't do that.

I think it does, everything i've read about it says it does though i haven't actually tried it yet as initially i wanted to get a switch so i can switch between my PC and Deck but then realised my HUB is HDMI where as my PC is using DP lol.

Think i need to move my speakers off my desk so i can incorporate abit more space for the Deck setup and rotate my 24" monitor for use with the Deck instead. Seems abit much for the sake of the steam deck.
