Likely nothing to do with a virus... probably drivers, HD accessing, or RAM swapping (though you do have 2GB RAM). Maybe try disable any active anti-virus/spyware progs while playing?

Hence mostly using the box\diamond layout...only cluster them right at the back of the base.

Its only been since the updates, it played fine before then. I do have a cr*ppy pc, but it played it brill before i got new gfx card. had an x 1600 pro

did you uninstall the old drivers?
have you got the latest ATI/omega drivers?

Just DLed the demo for this, liking it so far, bit overwhelming at first but I think I'm ok now. Can the camera be rotated in this game like in COH, to ground level for instance, how do I do that if it could? Thanks

Took me a while to get around to rotating the camera - hold 'space' and move the mouse - thing is that when you release space it whips back to the default view angle - i'm not sure if you can lock it in a particular position however ?

the insert and delete keys rotate the map view i think

I love how stable this game is specially when it comes to integration with windows. This is the first game I've come accross where I can run a movie on my other monitor while playing it and it minimises really stable aswell.

Yes, ousted the old drivers, new omega drivers are in and ok. Its a pain.

Been thinking of a clean install anyway, and am on holiday this week, so may go with that, see how i fare

Only complaints I have are the camera adjustment and the fact its a big performance hog (only bested in that department by Oblivion\Rainbow 6 Vegas).

Now completed the UEF campaign on hard (and it is ) and on mission 4 of the cybrans on hard, seems a lot easier with cybrans :/
