I'm really very tempted to order an opteron right now - can't justify going C2D as nice as it would be - the 165 is only just under £100 so not bad at all :o

I paid 65 for my X2 3800 and its clocked at 2.85ghz and beats an FX62 on sandra cpu mark thing. Sold my opteron 146 for 40 to someone on these forums so not bad really.

-off topic, how is the opteron 146 going mate should be stable on good air to 2.9ghz

No it aint

CORE 2 DUO
2Gb DDR
7950GT

Granted that one of the dudes im playing with only has a AMD thingy

if you play someone with a crappy computer it pauses on mine every 2 seconds or so. I can play fine with my mate on C2D but i played someone else i didnt know and it was crap when we had 200 or so units each.

I also played a 4 player with 200 units and it ran fine so it must slow down when other peoples slows down

I play my friend who has an Athlon XP 2500+ and the gameplay is very very slow. It appears that time actually slows down to compensate. It takes ******* ages for anything to happen :)

how would this run on my pc i only play at 1024x768 am2 3800 dually at stock and 7600gt slide show or what.ta for any help.

put the fidelity on low and it'll be fine. Fidelity is essentially things like terrain detail etc. Unit detail can still be kept on high. Those are the settings I used on my 24" iMac with 7600GT. Although I do run the game at 1920x1200.

I run at 1024x768, medium details on the following
X2 [email protected]
X1800XT@700core 800mem
2gb Gskill hz

Could probably run higher settings but once you have a couple of people with 300 units each it takes its toll. Saying this i had 300 planes and flew them accross a map and past 100 or so ground units was still at 20fps+

clock your processor and youll be fine

anyone want a game, im not that great!

try setting the game speed to like -2 or somthing and see if its better that way

I've tried, it then just goes extremely jerky - could be that his comp just doesnt have the required power for x2 speed etc.
not +2
-2!
press - twice so it goes SLOWER
will meen theres more time for the PC to do calcs etc
if my system starts to slow down on maps (vs AI) I drop the speed down so that it has time to catch up!

Wise words :D

the thing is people try and run the game on single core PCs with low ram (ie just the min spec) and then press + so its +1 or +2 and wonder why their PC is getting owned in the eye from above.
you try doing YOUR workload 2x as fast!

Is it just me or does anyone else find this stupid? The T3 radar uses 5x more energy (2000) than the T3 Shield Generator (400)

I think it's to reflect the advantage it gives you... it's a hell of a lot more useful than a single shield generator.

Just bought supcom yesterday and it runs great on vista :) got everything set to high@1920x1200 played a few 4 player multi games and no slow down.

here are just 4 possible matrices that you can build.....

Thanks for this, it has helped me endlessly in games. I tend to now go for around 4 smaller T1 matrices with a shield dome in the centre and when available mobile shield gens scattered.

It works wonders for your economy and allows you a quick and sometimes unexpected tech up to T3 on one of my factory's.

I know it is obvious, but it is worth stating that you should have ample air cover over your matrices because they are immensely susceptible to quick gunship and bomber rush attacks and loosing them will crash your economy and loose you the game.

I usually start a dedicated engineer setting up flak cannons everywhere as soon as my first factory is up, can never have enough AA cover...

Quoted for truth!

Although putting AA everywhere makes it hard to knock out completely and I always stagger my AA. If it gets in the way then reclaim it :D

I usually build them in diamond\box patterns, with clusters around key buildings.
