The **Official** Test Drive Unlimited for PC thread

Finally got vista installed on my machine - will be doing driver updates tonight.

What are the chances of this working with vista, as my first game rig test?

Should work fine. Says on the back of the case that you need Windows 2000/XP/Vista.

still doesn't run very well on 8800's (in Vista). Atari/Eden keep promising a patch but it never seems to appear.

That's ridiculous. I stopped playing this game ages ago due to lack of a patch.. And there still isn't one. :o

Yeah Atari are doing a sterling PR job by banning people mentioning the word patch from the official forums. The last official word on the patch on the forum was in May!!!!!

That makes me a little nervous, but hey, I'll give it a go (failing that Far Cry).

3700+ @ 2.9ghz
1.5gb ram
n6600 128mb ddr

Yes, but not at full whack - your GFX memory is limiting and may occasionally fall into black holes in the class A cars. Beta tested with a 6800GT 128mb.

Yeah, but it will blueScreen/crash/freeze/CTD, have graphical errors, sound errors and probably corrupt your save file.

Nothing to do with your pc spec though, thats plenty enough.

Wow ok thats put me off a bit, is it still good if you dont alll the crap lock up etc.

I ran it fine on my 3700+ @ 2.8ghz, 1GB Ram, but I had an 8800GTS at the time and my fps was around 30+ in citys, when there was smoke, my fps was around 10 if I did a wheel spin and looked behind me.

I was suprised at how nicely it ran on my 7600GT. Shame about the shocking glitches though.
that's the thing, the framerate is pretty reasonable (45-50 at 1280x1024 4xAA, HDR) but it's kinda like driving a car with dodgy fuel in it as it tends to stutter quite badly. Seems much better in XP now though.
