Doubt it, they're more interested in pushing out TDU2 than fixing the original. While it's probably a wise move given the state of the MP currently, it's frustrating nonetheless.
 
wow, people still play this? I loved this game so much, but then my profile decided to randomly get corrupt and i lost everything. Couldn't be bothered to restart (i basically finished the game). :(
 
Aw...doesn't sound to promising lol, i thought it was one huge island that everyone played on, is it servers ran by atari (or who ever) for 8 people max then i take it?
 
It's hard to describe how the networking system works in TDU but it is pretty daft. I've had the 360 version since day one though and was hoping the PC version wouldn't be as limited but it seems it is.

You can see 8 people in your immediate vacinity, so as you drive around the island you're always seeing the nearest 8 people to you - within a certain distance. However if you go into a shop/garage/house and then exit, you'll immediately be on another server instead of the one you were just on - so you'll effectively lose track of any players who you just met or raced with earlier in your session.

This was the reason why the OCUK 360 TDU club and almost every other club died in just a few weeks. No one could meet up with each other, and there were a few lucky encounters with the odd ocuk gamer but that was it. The networking system was completely stupid and ruined what could have been a superb game. It still is a great racer mind you, if you like solo cruising!

When I go into TDU most of the time I'm in 8 man cruises, as the thing is, the hard bit is spawning the first time, but when you FINALLY!! get spawned on them you add them to the friends list and its easier then.. sort of :p.
 
I was cruising last night when I bumped into some right proper Texan yankie doodles doing doughnuts near the lighthouse in their mustangs. I joined them for a bit (I had the yellow Mustang GTR) for a nice cruise...10mins into the cruise I accidently hit the A button as I drove over a multiplayer race marker :o I was fuming!

You should have added them into your friends list, thats what I do with everyone I cruise with so I can relocate them.
 
Ive been getting into this game also and im finding it quite hard to add people to my friends list.

I realise the netcode is a bit dodgy in that your only seeinga few people in your local vicinity.

For me its quite cool when your simply cruising the roads and you suddenly see the name in the distance that a human player is just sitting in a layby or in a little parking space. Almost always i cant resist just pulling up beside them and blasting the horn. If the player is there and i get that little acknowledged "beep" from his car i drive on witha little smile on my face.

Ive been finding it almost impossible to actually get anyone matched for an online race tho.

I did have one great cruise with about 4 guys on bikes who were not even going that fast just driving along pulling wheelies and stoppies, swaping places etc.

One thing about the game i love and hate in equal measure is the fact that with some racers you can "hear" them as they are using mics. Sometimes its cool when you pass them on the road and also hear it back through the game as the sound is sent through their mic of your car passing them.

Then its bad in the young kid complaining about crashing sort of way.
 
To successfully add people you need the following things:

Xfire.
Patience.

The online races are useless and boring IMO, thats not because I suck at them, its just because they really are useless.

You dont have to hear peoples mic's you know, you can disable that function.

So its out now? $19.99 is about £10.14. :D I presume the new cars can't all be bought straightaway? You need to complete new challenges and do courier stuff to get them?

Any idea how big the download is?

I think they all can be bough straight away they havent added any new challenges as far as I'm aware. The link is to the US version, EU version is delayed for some reason :\ but it should be around £8 the EU version I think.
