The **Official** Test Drive Unlimited for PC thread

Oh dear oh dear.

How is it that every car can stop on its nose in a second even from 100+ mph?

How come even the lower spec (the Alfa GTA for one) cars will wheel through 2nd and 3rd?

How on earth do I get some real steering feel and input from my MOMO wheel? The throttle and brakes are both ON or OFF, I might as well be using buttons. Can anyone help with wheel config, doesn't seem to be many options for pedal and steering sensitivity?

So far this game feels extremely arcade like and the cars dont handle right at all, not sure how people suggested this is great for petrolheads... 15 year olds who have never driven a car perhaps. :(

The game feels like it'd be better played on a keyboard then a steering wheel, thats really really not good.

It was designed for a keyboard, oh dear god. :(

Better put this crap up for sale then.

After the implementation of vehicles in Boiling Point I should have steered clear of this title, Atari developers must take the bus to work as they haven't a clue about vehicle physics and behavior!

Damn exploring takes ages, just managed to map entire island, got a free 10 garage house for my efforts though :D

Upto 49% completion, getting a bit repetative now but I still enjoy cruising around.

Does anyone know how to unlock the RUF?

I've noticed in european tuning specialist that they do upgrades for RUF yet I haven't seen one in any of the garages :(

What's a RUF? :)

I remember on the Xbox version there was an acceleration task you could complete and it would give you 10-15 K for it. All you had to to was hit 160mph (around that speed anyway). But i cant find it in the PC version. Another thing which could be something i am doing wrong but will see if anyone else knows, is it just me or are there a lot less races etc to do, i can see a few in the pc version but about 60% are mutiplayer races, i think there was a lot more in the 360 version. But i may be wrong.

Can anyone else help me on this?

However the sound quality is terrible, huge amounts of distortion, every time I lift off the sound crackles and the bass is just crackly as hell :(
I test drove a GT40 on passing a Ford dealership and the sound was shockingly bad, sound keeps disappearing altogether.

As you can see from my sig, sound card is a XiFi Xtreme Music. I've tried changed modes, turning the Crystalliser off and whilst with it set on game mode with the crystalliser off its better, its still unbearable in the GT40....

I got the exact same problem!! Sound crackles all the time and in a few occasions all sounds dissapeared and I had to play the game in total silent for a few minutes untill it eventually came back on, otherwise I had to restart the game.

Also using a X-FI extreme music :(

RUF are a real life German Porsche tuning company, essentially like AMG for Mercedes and Alpina for BMW.

edit - I cant believe how shocking the cars handle in this game. I was hoping for something more like NFS-NW handling, which suits me more as a keyboard driver.

Got a couple of questions.

* Ho do you actually play online, I dont see the option
* Can you bring up the whole map view, while you are driving, so that it makes it easier to explore, or do you only drive around with your GPS?
* I have that map I got with the game, but it's cumbersome. Will I miss out on anything if I dont use it as a reference?

thanks
