Aaaaah 6.5% after 30 minutes, help.Don't know whats wrong with this game that it needs to have diagnostic tools for repairing the install.
Currently doing my first repair, and its taking aaaaages.
Cheers for that tourney info JimAroo.
I have registered on Gameshrine, though thought to ask here first about getting a team together, before trying there.
So, have we got four others, that would start a new blood team from here? I am not keen to be Captain B.T.W. though would be if necessary.
Im on holiday in the week of the group phase So I cant join up. Would have done though as it sounds fun
Also, I was just wondering if anyone else has any more information about lag at the moment in Tribes? Tried playing again last night and was lagging badly.
Seems like its mostly just me from the people I have spoke to. I am also now getting FPS lag quite severely in duels where it drops to 15-20 FPS. I thought maybe I have something in the background thats causing it, but I couldnt see anything last night.
I will try turning off dynamic lights tonight but I am a little reluctant to do that seeing as last week the game ran fine for me
The only other thing I can think of is if my graphics card is overheating seeing as the last few days have seen temperatures touching 30 degrees where I live. However my card has a thermal cut off that shuts the PC down if it gets too hot. Maybe its just getting hot enough to decrease performance but not trip the cut out?
I think the bottom line is I need a better PC!!
Anyone know any good persuasion techniques to use on an anti-gaming-PC fiancee?
I think I might be single shortly after she found out I just blew a wad on new gear!

I did reinstall the game (steam version) but it didn't fix it, how can I reinstall the game and get it to work without this huge repair process?
If I install the non steam version would that make any difference.
Not going to happen sorry. Give pathfinder a go. Jugs role in ascend is very small.
Here is an photo album of Dynamic Lights off on Arx, Drydock and Temple: http://imgur.com/a/YI7Q3.
These are the places where i see the biggest FPS dips, with Dynamic Lights on my FPS drops from ~120 to 40/50, but with it off i gain double the FPS.
You can see the FPS on the right of the screen.. also note how dark Drydock is compared to say Arx.
Really, as I seem to top 3 in almost every pub CTF game I play and take back a lot of flags from the enemy cappers?
You would get home maybe 1 outa 50 times playing against higher level players. Public ctf is just the tip of the iceberg in ascend. In comp its very rare a jug is ever used. We have started trying it to counter certain teams tactics but even that has limited success.
It totally depends on map and the team your playing. Dont take it as im putting you down for playing it as im totally not but try play a medium or light class often also.
I think the game may automatically turn off dynamic lights when set to minimum graphics looking at those photos. They are exactly like the game appears on my screen, and I havent manually disabled dynamic lights yet.
Will try tonight and see for definite though. Could just be a trick of the eye.

Will have a chat on mumble sometime about this.
Right, well I turned off dynamic lighting and did a few other tweaks to my cfg last night and to be honest it did make a difference to my FPS but not a huge one. I get maximum of 50FPS now, but mostly its still 30-40, dropping to the 20's in some situations. However it did seem to help with the lag I was having in close up duels. It has made the maps darker, but not really that much darker than they already were. The main trouble I had was seeing distant targets on Raindance, but other than that it wasnt too bad. I will say, though, that the first part of last night saw my best sniping yet, so although the reported FPS on my screen isnt that much different with dynamic lights off, I think it has helped to smooth things out somehow.
That said, I am still seeing fast moving flag cappers 'skipping' and I really am at a loss why.
Still not sure why it was working ok before though. Very frustrating.
So anyway my thoughts are now turning to a cheap upgrade or two that will allow me to achive extra FPS. Will sticking more RAM in my machine make that much difference? Or is a new graphics card needed? I'm not really sure if Tribes hits the RAM/CPU or the GPU harder? If anyone has any recommendations I would appreciate it. Also would an SSD drive be worth it?
My current system is:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (2.4ghz)
2GB of Corsair XMS DDR2, Dual channel
Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS (640MB)
Standard 7200RPM HDD
I am thinking about something like CLICKY
and
CLICKY
Anyone have any comments on that card? Will it cope with tribes? I dont want to play with mega high settings or anything because my monitor only supports 1280x1024 resolution anyway. I just want a high enough FPS that stays stable. For £130 it seems like a good buy.
Cheers
