*** The Official Tribes: Ascend Thread! ***

Is anyone actually in a competing team on here? I know a few people have been looking.
seeing as we missed the sign up date for nimbletourney I was thinking about having a group of people join in with future comps.
nothing serious just to have fun and at the very least to gain a bit of knowledge from competition in game.

It's 7 vs 7 but most have a few extras just in case. You can pick up the odd sub just to play friendly scrims if your short. Until very recently we often used subs if we were short.

We would be happy to help where we can in getting you guys a team up and running.

I do feel that Tribes misses out on creating a community feel as players never know what server they are connecting to unless its a custom. So you are constantly playing against different people and never really developing server relationships with people you play regularly. It reminds me a lot of Quake Live in that respect. Its just so big and there are so many servers it dilutes the community feel. Tribes feels a little impersonal to me when in servers with people I dont know, and because I know I probably wont play any of these guys again I dont really feel any motivation to chat to them. Does anyone else feel that way?

After you've been playing for a while, you'll recognise 50% of the players on a matchmade server any time you play. So you get to know whos good and what roles they tend to play. I've had a lot of guys friend me just from playing on the same server as them on a regular basis and so you start working together in pubs complimenting roles.

Had our first ladder match for 8th spot in the EU against Team Mostly Harmless.

Can be watched back here.

I'm not sure I like the caster, he seemed more attracted to your flagstand than theirs. and missed 3 grabs that turned into caps. bit disappointed by that. IMO he seemed to favour Mh too.

bloody good plays though, congrats on the win.

fancy posting here next time you're going to be casted, I can't view the flam site at work.

Yea we didn't know it was going to be casted till a few mins before start. We should hopefully get the main casters next time we play. Although I'm leaving the team at the end of the month so they will probably run the other capper more instead of me.

Yea was a fun match, shame the stream was laggy and the game was shown on low graphics.

Hopefully now we have proved ourself a little we'll get more interest from different casters.

This cast was a last minute thing, another game was going on at the same time that got the attention of the more top quality casters.

Only read your last post now Buff, here acknowledging that. :)
:) At the Time computer vid.

Oh and how do you get on higher ranked servers, rather than simply ranking up?

Also congratz on your latest victory Team Flamboyant.

I've found that playing defence is actually improving my capping and duelling skills, considering I've avoided it for so long it's kind of made me realise how far I have to go.
