posters comments about these chips being great overclockers seems abit over the top to me. surley to be labeled with that, you would be thinking they could get to at least 1.5ghz over stock with ease on low volts and not get as hot as they are being reported by forum members.
Take the 6300/6400 and the 2160/80s now they are getting much better overclocks from stock speeds with nice temps and these are 65nm.
my 6300 runs 3430 all day long and if I had a bigger case and some better cooling on my board it would do 3500.
this is a 1.6ghz overclock anyway.
I am hoping there is a refresh as I would like to see these sort of speed increase's.
I know some are getting there, but not as many as I hoped, dissapointed really as I want to get one, but to make it worth it to me I would want to be seeing 4.5ghz.
Maybee thats greedy but thats bang for buck to me.
Ready to get hammered for my comments now, but thats the way I see it with these new Wolfdales.
This a valid point.
3ghz to 4.2ghz is less of an overclocking margin than my humble 6400.
I clocked this from 2.13ghz to 3.8ghz 13 hrs primestable.
Ok it is not as fast ,but the 45nm Wolfdales I was hoping were going to be in the 4.5ghz area 24/7.
The trend seems that this is not the case.
