** The Official WWDC 2022 thread “Call to code” - Keynote 6th June at 18:00 BST **

Are you holding out for the new design then? I bought the base MBA and the performance is fantastic for the price. Unless you want the coloured enclosures the new MBA is rumoured to have, I don't think the speed gains will be much between M1 and M2.
Not really. If the M2 MBA does not come out I can always wait as the need is not urgent but I might as well wait just in case. The thing I really want to see (apart from iOS, macOS and iPadOS) is the AirPod Pro 2.

It's always been software at WWDC.

This is what was at wwdc 2021
Nope, it's a software-focused event but if Apple has products that are ready to go, they announce it there. For example Apple did announce big hardware in WWDC 2019 (Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR), and 2017 was a hardware packed WWDC (Macbook Pros, HomePod, iMac Pro, etc). Lots of iPads and mac refreshes have been introduced at WWDC as well, and Apple used to even introduce new iPhones at WWDC before they moved them to September.

Plot twist: Apple will be raising prices, that's why store is down :D
New deluxe wiping cloth inbound! I don't recall the store being down on the last WWDC so I think this is a good indicator of new hardware? Mad that Apple still can't live-update their site in 2022 but then I suppose it builds hype!

EDIT: I'm not expecting much out of iOS 16/macOS 12, but I'm a little more excited about the iPhone 14 Pro always-on display rumours picking up pace again. Maybe some iOS 16 code will hint further. Will make a nice upgrade from my XS anyway.

A colleague has one and I used it, it's a very decent cloth. Probably worth £5 though.

That's generous :D

Having a great time reading the text in the images!

"For outstanding advantages, just extraordinary!"
"A good piece of cloth, please call me luxury"

Sold!

New hardware is likely to be the Mac Pro, it’s the only Apple Mac that hasn’t moved over to Apple Silicon and it’s a developer conference.

MacBook Air doesn’t make much sense to announce today.

I always really enjoy WWDC - Apple seem to have learnt a lot over the last few years about some of their design decisions around hardware, bringing ports back etc - hopefully they'll continue to go in the right way with Software, iPadOS could be great, but needs a bit of tweaking and always love news about MacOS.

It would be interesting to see if they announced the Mac Pro today, they mentioned it in the last event and said it was for another day, if it's announced today I don't expect an immediate release, but I'm always proven wrong on these because I don't read the rumours.
