my thumb, it's completely gone
Yeah that's the same thing I had, so in that case the white cable theory is junked!

Leave it running for a bit and maybe use something like ATT to increase the fan's rpms to 100% for a while in the hope it may loosen something up?, apart from that you have to live with it or return it.

In the meantime to help take your mind off the rattle, check out this video :D

I don't think its a 'wd40' job but i could be wrong, its more like the fan is rattling/vibrating against plastic, kinda like its mounted incorrectly and is spinning off-balance. . .

on the rear of the card quite low down there's a little chip that's surrounded by what looks like a square pink pad like some TIM that has'nt got a heatsink on it? dunno what it is but like i said it's all running fine.
Welcome aboard the X1950 Pro Express, be sure to check the opening post and enjoy your new card! :)

I think that little chip is the 'PCI-E to AGP' converter (obviously PCI-E card owners don't have that!), does it get burning hot when running 3d?

anyone here using different cooling for the Pro cards than the stock cooling?
Nope!

For me the important thing about a cards HSF is that its fairly quiet, both the Power-Colour and HIS X1950 pro cards have a very quiet solution in place.

The second reason to change cooling would have course be overclocking but these cards run quite cool as it is and also I'm not sure the X1950 Pro is an overclocking kinda card (seems like its sold clocked near its max).

This is of course ok as for the money the stock speeds are pretty decent! :)

Can I just say, the rattle has indeed gone from my HIS, and the solution is to apply pressure to the fan until you get an audible "snap"

I think the fans weren't fitted properly at the factory.

Good stuff Beast, I didn't sus that out on mine and sent it back :o

So then, at last you got everything sorted, lol this thread has been going three weeks, seems a lot longer.

I'm just trying to decide which game to play (I'm well behind lol) Half-Life2 (well it would be Half-Life:Source then Half-Life2) or Battlefield 2? (Does BF2 have a single player game?).

I still haven't finished playing the 'Dark Messiah' demo, quite tempted to buy the full version, the X1950 makes mince meat of it, then it makes hamburgers out that mince meat! :D

Oh where are the X1950 pro'ers?
I'm deeply immersed in getting my new e6300 build up to speed (had all the parts since before xmas but was only able to start building it a week ago!!).

Left it running stock for a week while I sussed out the drivers and config etc and finally started upping the FSB last night . . . I'll be back soon! :D

any other thoughts
Is there any way u can test the card on another machine. I know we all don't have multiple machines but perhaps u have a friend with a PCI-E system who don't mind it being torn apart? :D

Other than that it could be a faulty card, there have been one or two people having similar problems? It could be the PSU but the X1950Pro isn't as power-hungry as a lot of other recent cards.

What graphics card were u using before your upgrade?

What's this problem 3 people have had getting a a PCI-E power plug into their cards?

For those people not knowing the HIS bundle didn't include an adapter I did make a point of saying here

Do you think its the card? or perhaps it could have been a very cheaply made adapter? u tell me :)

Unless I can sort this playback issue out? if I turn the performance accelerator down, it cures the problem, but I can't play full screen which is useless. Anyone got round this?
Hi beast, I don't have any issue with .wmv?

What version of WMP are you using? also have u installed any funny codec packs? Did you change drivers going from your Sapphire X1950 to your HIS X1950 Pro?

I don't have to fiddle with any 'performance accelerator' settings?

Don't wanna rub it in but video/dvd playback is awesome here, either its something u can fix or could there be a fault with your card?

Regardless of that, I wouldn't be happy about the rattle (thats why I RMA'ed that card I had).
